Well I can see this post is going downhill fast!
Like Oldtimer said, PA always only had a one buck limit and like him I started hunting when it was only one deer per season.
I have to agree our herd was too large. But now it's the other way. Too many doe have been taken IMO but anterless tag allocations have not been reduced enough. I think the herd needs to grow slightly then sustained/maintained at that level.
On the flip side, if your state allows multiple harvests and your herd can handle the pressure then have at it. What I really despise however are people that kill deer just because its legal and don't use it or have trouble giving it away. I like to hunt for the sport of pursuing my quarry. Killing an animal is secondary. Hunting for the sake of just killing something IMO isn't hunting. It's killing for the sake of killing.
