PA. Doe application ???

How do you perceive giving the hunter an option for getting a license in a unit of their choice without having to send the application back and forth through the mail again going to sell more license or kill more deer? You do realize they sold all of the license in all but one unit before too don’t you?
All this system does is give the hunter a chance to get his second choice if the first one is already sold out without the County Treasurer having to sending the application back to the hunter who then finds out his second choice also sold out before he could resubmit his application to his second choice unit.
This is entirely a benefit to the hunters and doesn’t make one additional penny for the Game Commission, result in even one additional license being sold or any more deer being killed, yet you still want to bitch about it.

I didn't get the point about the PGC making more money, either?
Since the checks are made out to "county treasurer", it would appear that they get the money first, keep their dollar, then have to remit the balance to the PGC within a certain time frame?
The new system should benefit hunters, since checks don't have to be returned so that someone can submit another application to a WMU that still has tags left.
Be interesting to see if all goes as planned, since there have already been some glitches in the license issuing system.
Maybe one guy in Tremont will get all the 2G tags and they'll all arrive on the same day. Pity his poor mail carrier.

"huh and i thought the three choices was a good idea. I tend to hunt 3c but go to 3b on a occasion or two . I like it "
I dont think it was a bad idea. I just dont care for the reason Im sure they did it. It will sell more tags when/where allocations are highest and or raised in the future. One example would be 2B. Rosenberry basically said they would have raised the allocation just as they did in 2c, but they couldnt sell them out any higher. Well that was previously... Now...who knows?
Other wmus some years dont sell out till late in the season. At times 2A for example. And most years its possible to get 3. IF they were raised, they very likely wouldnt sell out either. Not that they need raised, since the goal is supposed to be stabilization and the herd is still declining with one of the highest allocations in the state.
Having said all that...just throwing out some thoughts....I actually support the change. Its not really overall significant imho, but a small convenience I guess. The big problem is the same one that has been for years now and it isnt giving second and third options on doe tag applications. lol

Some folks can see a conspiracy anywhere they want. IMHO, the new procedure looks like common sense way to fix an old bureacratic inconvenience. Antlerless tags virtually all sell out anyway so the idea that this will sell more licenses holds no water.

Pgc knows how many tags they can sell judging by if they sell out previously at that level or when they sell out. A wmu that doesnt sell out till December with 60K tags isnt likely to sell out next year with 80K period, so there is little reason to raise them.
Thats the situation in some wmus. Creating a perceived greater demand as well as giving more time to buy might be enough to get more sold.
No conspiracy. Only way this system would be detrimental is when they actually do raise the tags in wmus where this would come into play... Those not quickly selling out now...then it will be proven the reason why this was done. Till then, I see no problem and as I stated support the move.
