New York - legal to shoot on state land?

As long as it is not a season where you cannot bring certain weapons into the woods, you can certainly shoot on state land in NY. Just follow the laws as far as being away from a road or buildings.

Since this was debated a bit I called the DEC to check. It is 100% legal (no regulation against it).

However, it isn't legal to damage trees - so you would have to be careful about that.
