I was out on my trap line today and came across a possible Mt lion track within 100 yards of where my brother swears to have seen one last spring while trout fishing. We bot know what a Mt lion looks like my uncle hunts them in Idaho and we have see them up close and personal on a few occations. I am going to check my traps in the morning and I am going to take my digital camera with me - there is no call for rain tonight and the track is in wet sand so it should still be there in the morning. Very possible it could be a bobcat but the track seems too big to be a bobcat unless it is exceptionally large.. Like I said I should be able to get a pic on here tomarrow and get some opinions on what you guy think it is - I'll make sure there is something in the picture for a refference as to the size of the track.

That is a pic of a lion my uncle treed in Idaho - that is my uncle in the pic and that is a camera not binocs.
Here is the pic of the trac I said I would get - the track is a little degraded so it is hard to get an acurate guess as to what it is. You can see it is fairly large - It looked better the first time I saw the track - It was a little messed up the next day. There were no visable claw marks in the track.
Let me know what you guys think this is. I also forwarded the pic to a wildlife biologist at fingerlakes community college to see what he thought.

I do wish the track was not as degraded as it is - it would be a little more definative as to what it is - I would like to get some feed back as to what others think it could be - I am certain it is not a dog and the only other animal around that would have a track anny where near that size would be a beaver and I am pretty ertain it is not a beaver or you should see some type of the webbing in the track and the front foot of a beaver is more like a coon track that a cat track just larger.
