And why can't you get a posse of your "born hunting crew" to get proof.

That's the way I read it. And I am sure someone in mine or others generations has seen them when they was abundant..Maybe it was someones relative on here who suppose of shot the last one in PA.

first, the HUNTERS i grew up with areobeying LAW..
THE LAW SAYS YOU CANT KILL ONE, HELL, I DONT WANT THEM KILLED..

only 1 person i know took a shot a COUGAR with bow and he missed..
that was ONLY 1 that saw one in hunting season...

almost all sighting were in spring and summer and almost all were along roads in front of car....

this is why i feel the cougars are leaving or passing thru in summeror possibly only a few are covering state,this may be why you see 1 in area and then sighting stop after awhile....

if cougar wants to cover TERRITORY ,walking on a road is fasts way to do it..
ask trappers lately where they are trapping coyotes,almost all put their traps along roads,this is where FOOD is and they can cover MILES hunting,i know, our 47 pd coyote i was after last year covered over 10 mile area while hunting....

not 1 of his tracks were in WOODS,i believe its same of cougar,they are elusive but will take easier route to cover territory and find food...

you or nobody will convince me that most PGC field employees have not seen one..
when you have them tell you they dont believe it when their are people that did see one, that SMELLS to me....

Wildcat spotted near Julian

Patton Township police are asking residents to look out for a wildcat on the loose near Julian Pike and state Route 550.
Sgt. Frank Monroe said officers received a report Friday night of a cheetah running across state Route 550, but the animal turned out to be a serval, a medium-sized wildcat native to Africa.
"This is weird -- very, very bizarre," Monroe said.
People should not be alarmed by the creature, according to Monroe, who said when police attempted to capture the serval Friday night, it was very passive.
The main concern is preventing anyone -- and the serval -- from getting hurt as the search continues.
"I don't want to see it get hit by a car, or someone stop on the highway and get hit by a car," Monroe said.
Police are seeking the owners of the serval, because the animal could not survive a central Pennsylvania winter, Monroe said. Police have posted fliers asking residents to be on the lookout for the animal.
Monroe described the animal as a very odd creature with very long legs and is twice the size of an average house cat. It weighs about 25 pounds and is 18 to 20 inches tall.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission requires licenses for people keeping servals in the state. The Game Commission has no licenses issued in Centre County, and Monroe said the serval could have wandered from another county.
