A nice buck decoy and a camera would take care of those guys on a late night.

MOMonarch,

You should really call the game warden. I've seen these guys in action, and I can tell you this, if we had more game wardens, poaching could be almost totally eliminated. My uncle had a doe shot from the highway in his front yard. He called the warden the next morning, and I went and watched him crawl on his hands and knees in the road ditch for about 4 hours! He finally found what he was looking for....shell casings. 2 days later he had issued a citation to a local boy, who had finally confessed to the deed during interrogation. Agent's name was Russell Duckworth, and he's a go-getter! Call your local warden and let him do his job. In my experience, there's nothing that p!$$es off one of these guys, than people who poach bucks for nothing more than their headgear. He would probably work a little overtime on this one!

Sorry to hear you had such people in your area. There is nothing worse then poachers. They think that hunting at night and taking a large buck is a big joke in most cases. There were some in my area a couple of years ago, and when they were caught, they said they did it as a joke, to see if they could get away with it. Their game was to drive around until a buck was spotted, shoot it, and cut the shoulder mount off and then disappear. No self respecting hunter has time for such people. There are some that show up during season with a monster buck and if you knew them, you know they shot it at night, then they have the gall to brag about getting it.. Of course they have a good story... When they are caught, we should make sure to let the local law enforcement know we appreciate them and what they are doing.....You really should call the local wardens.....
