Not as many birds in Ohio as there once were. The days of wild pheasants are pretty much over in my area as farmers really harvest right down to the bare soil.
They stock birds at Highlandtown WLA and at Zepernick. You can get all the stocking dates and the amount stocked from the Division's website.
Do you have a dog? The pheasants I've gotten this year would still be alive if not for my dog. I would have walked right past them.
If I can answer any questions, feel free to e-mail me off list.
Airedales hunt for feather or fur!

Ed,
Ohio is definitely not the premier bird state. But we have a few. Some areas such as Deer Creeck Wildlife Area are being managed for wild birds (no more pen raised releases). A friend of mine told me about 6 flushes he had with his Springer last week. A coworker of mine said he flushed 16 roosters on the back of his 5 acres (Circleville area) this past Tuesday, almost all at once. I went to Dillon Wildlife Area on opening day this year. We took 5 roosters between the 3 of us without a dog (my Lab was sick). Footwork is the key. Get on private land if at all possible. For me it is mostly clubs, more birds there but way too expensive to go every weekend. This is a link to ODNR maps for anyone interested... http://www.ohiodnr.com/wildlife/hunt...s/wildare.html
Good Luck with the Duck!
