Went out at 3pm today...farmers taking fields off everywhere...except where I need them to. Saw 1 buck making a rub behind me..that was it.

Planned on going out this morning, but the beer from last night said otherwise. A buddy called said he saw a few walking into a corn field..that was it. Corn is evil in November.

This afternoon better pay off, or else I'm hooking up the snow plow and driving thru the corn fields.

Well guys, im excited but a little bummed at the same time. Went out this morning and decided to hunt my other stand on the opposite corner of the woods from where the other 2 guys have been. At about 7:30 i look out into the grass field and seen a buck chasing a doe, couldnt tell about size. They ran off into the woods and that was that. 15 minutes later i had 2 does come in behind me. Then at about 8:15 I look back out into that field and there he stood, all by himself, the buck of my lifetime. He proceeded to walk directly at me and my hear started beating like u cant believe. He came right through the thick stuff and got to within 15 yards where he stopped behind a small tree and i drew back. I held my bow for at least 3 minutes as he never moved. Finally, he turned around and ended up walking in behind me. I had one opening but decided it was too risky of a shot so i let him go on his way. So close, yet no deer and who knows if i'll see him again. I had no idea a buck of this size was out there. He was a beautiful 8 point, possible 10, i tried not to look to be honest. 3 more steps and it would have been a perfect 12 yard broadside shot but it didnt happen. I was wondering if perhaps he got wind of me. It was out of the south but it wasnt that windy, he was on my north side so he would have been walking into it. Im wondering if that isnt why he turned. He never spooked, and he just casually walked and stopped a couple times as i grunted at him so im not sure. I sure hope this guy comes back. I have yet to kill a mature buck and to be honest i havent seen many in my time so this was a thrill for me.

Yeah, thats bowhunting for ya i suppose. Had it been gun season i'd be celebrating right now. Oh well, i dont think i will have much problem getting myself out of bed now to go hunt in the mornings. Im gonna leave that area alone tonight and see if i cant put my stand up at the other place tonight instead of tomorrow. I didnt plan on going in the morning but now i want to. Last 2 days now i have seen 2 bucks, both with does, so it's getting that time. Corn out there still isnt completely gone, one is 3/4ths down, the other is about half gone. If you can get the does out of the corn long enough you should be in business.

Saw a decent buck chasing a doe all over a freshly combined bean field this afternoon...deer running everywhere. About 5pm, had 2 small does walk right up to my scent waffers, one used her nose to push around an empty bottle of doe estrous that I tossed out of the tree stand.

A buddy had a 4pt right under him. Every time he'd walk away, "The Can" brought him back in looking for a doe.

I changed my mind and went back again tonight. Kicked up 4 or 5 doe on the way in. Had one doe walk under me about dark, no bucks tonight though. They were combining in both field tonight, the property i hunt was down to about the last 8 rows when i left. The lady that farms the neighbors field quit at about 5 pm. She started that field on Tuesday and still isnt done. I may take "the can" with me in the AM, i am also going to try a drag rag and some scent bombs. The big boy is calling the neighbors property home so im going to have to work to get him back to a spot like he was today. It really stung to watch him walk off this morning. I seen one other buck that was around the same size as him about 5 years ago, he came in one morning in early November and i never seen him again the entire rest of the year.

I've only seen 1 PY deer ever while hunting. I know it was a PY since a guy that hunts acrossed a road from me shot it during muzzleloader season. HUGE 11pt.

I'm off to slay!

Saw a bunch of does being chased around all morning..nothing came close enough to draw my interest enough to grab my bow. Hopefully this afternoon is better.

TONS of deer moving around this afternoon..way too many to count. Only had a couple decent does within 50 yards...just couldn't get them much closer.

Oh well, got wed-sun to hunt.
