I have two 16 footers, one set up to 16 and the other set up to 12, depends on the terrain i am in. you are going to need two people to put them up, one to push on the end of the ladder as you work your rear off trying to slide it up the tree, then you need to fasten the bar from the ladder to the tree. then take a deep breath, say a few prayers and have someone hold the ladder while you climb up and fasten the strap around the tree at the top. most of them have a flat metal seat at the top, i found i could build me a plywood seat, with arm rests that will bolt to the top of the stand, sure makes you feel a lot more secure. then just add a seat cushion and you will have it made. hope this helps some. lots of luck.

I have one and I really like it, the only thing, you need to set it up in a place you like to hunt cause they are hard to move, I usually put mine up in one of my favorite sites well before season and then leave it all season. Most of them are pretty sturdy and safe, especially if you get one that has the arm rest and shooting rails.

I have a few 15' ladder stands that stay out the entire season. They are fine for sitting for short periods of time. After a few hours they get uncomfortable. If you plan on all day hunts I would suggest a comfortable climber.I shot several deer off these ladders but they can' t compare to a nice climber. If you get a ladder stand don' t get one of the narrow stands available. One that comes to mind was a aluminum stand I believe was called the Ocala Stand. Those are hard to climb and turn around on.Most of the ladder stands today are wide enough for easy climbing and turning around to sit on it.BassPro has some good ladders at fairly reasonable prices. Especially right before hunting season.
