RE: Weaver Grand Slam scope quality?
Grand Slams are made by Light Optical in Japan as well as most if not the entire Weaver lineup. Light Optical makes scopes and spotting scopes for Nikon and other companies and has for a long time. I have a couple of VariXII Leupolds and they can't compare to a Grand Slam except in eye relief. VX1 is nothing more than a renamed version of my varixII's and it would be unfair to compare the two scopes. I'm impressed by Nikon Monarchs clarity but not durability, their external finish is not what it should be.

RE: Weaver Grand Slam scope quality?
VAboy,
The Weaver Grand Slams are great scopes. I have 3 Leupold Var-X III's and I believe that the grand slams are clearer and brighter than even the Var-X III's. For the price, you would not be disappointed.

RE: Weaver Grand Slam scope quality?
Thanks guys. I love the Leupold (VX II), but I have a 19 yr old Redfield that has finally gave out (no windage adjustment). Redfield says they can't repair older scopes but they offer a trade-in program on any new Redfield or Weaver. I have never tested a Weaver and needed some input before I made the purchase. Looks like it'll be the 3x10x40 Grand Slam.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
