Default Weaver Grand Slam 4.75 x 40

Anybody have any info good, bad, or otherwise about this fixed power grand slam. They are on sale for $150. Thought it might be a good fit on the 35 whelen I am building. I know they are fully-multicoated and that the old weavers were of good quaility.

Do you think the glass is of better quality than the burris ffII's. I have 3 of those and am satisfied. I was thinking the weaver might be a little clearer and the fixed power would be plenty for a 35 whelen'srange.

I have no experience with the fixed power scopes, but have 3 variable grandslams. I think they are exceptional scopes. The optics are great on or above par with the leupolds, & bushnell 4200'sI own. The adjustments are terrific and repeatable. They use the Microtrak system that has been used on the target models for several years. I would say that it is a much better scope than the burris you mentioned. The only complaint I have with my grandslams are that the eye relief is short. Though my experience is limited to 6.5-20 power scopes, and the fixed may have sufficient eye relief.

I also have no experience with Grand Slam fixed power scopes but I have a couple variable scopes and would have to echo what Shato had to say. I’m very pleased with my Weaver G.S. scopes...

I've got mine in-hand, waiting for my Savage 7mm-08 to come in so I can get it mounted & out to the range.

Looking down the street through the window, it's an awfully nice scope for the price.
