I need help I am going to buy a synthetic stock for a Remington 700 short action rifle probably a H-S Precision or Hogue Overmold. Any opinions on pillar bedding compared to full length bedding?

I have used h-s precision and much prefer mcmillan. All of my rifles are pillar bedded which I find to provide the most consistant point of impact in various conditions.Incidently, the action does not rest just on the pillars when an action is pillar bedded.

h.s. precision makes the custom shop stocks for the remingtons. i think including army sniper rifles so what does that tell you. i bought one for my brother and it doesnt get any better. its fully alluminum bedded and comes in a thumbhole sporter that my brother loves. the only problem is that i had to order it direct from them in the color i wanted and it took a little less than 2 months but fully worth it. i checked into getting a mc millan stock but they dont make a bedded action for my 338 win mag so that gun will get a h.s. precision also.

You should also consider the fact that many gunsmiths skim bed the stocks that are equipped with the full length aluminum bedding blocks in order to achieve the most consistant accuracy..

Thanks for the reply's I settled on the Hogue Overmold stock with full-length bedding I liked it so well I ordered 3 more for other rifles I would highly recommend these stocks to anyone looking for A good affordable replacement stock you can buy these from Midsouth Shooters Supply for $167.61 that is the cheapest place I could find. chad
