Default 270wsm or 7mm

After the last message I posted about knowing whether too get a 270wsm or a 30-06 I was leaning on getting a 270wsm but now I looked at all the ballistics and I was thinking should I get a 270wsm or a 7mm because in the ballistics I was looking at they both are pretty close in everything like trajectory, energy, and etc, except that the 270wsm has a slightyly smaller calibre but I was wondering wut would be a better choice for when I hunt mostly deer and then moose and elk and later on when I'm olding I'm gonna go up north a little bit and hunt caribou so basically wut would be a better gun for all around sized game.

here is an example of what I might have to shoot that me and my dad caught on tape of eight royal bull elk just south of wainwright alberta in the middle of november.too bad we didn't have a tag then. o well they were nice to see.

I think honestly you may be thinking too hard about this......all of the guns you mentioned will do what you said you want to do. The differences in the 3 are minute. I own two 7 mags, and a 30-06, and dont think I would prefer one over the other for what you mentioned. Bullet selection is by far more important that caliber. A 120gr ballistic tip in you 30-06 compared to a 160 gr Partition outta the 7mm changes the equation significantly.

I AGREE WITH MOSSYOAK. ALL CALIBERS MENTIONED WILL DO THE JOB WITH THE RIGHT BULLET. 30.06 OR 7MAG ARE A HECK OF A LOT CHEAPER TO FEED THAN ANY OF THE SHORT MAGS.

thanks for the advice and also I think I will go with the 7mm because my dad also has one of those and says it works well and he has dyes for reloading them too

Smart choice, makes perfect sense as dad has the experience and tools to crunch whatever bullet you'll need in the .284 for now/future hunts.

I don't think them 'bou will complain if you use a lousy old .30-06, a 7mm whatever, or a modern .270 WSM to shoot 'em with. Worry about 0.007" of an inch only affects machinists.

I much prefer the 7mm bullet diameter and there are far more factory loads available for the 7mmremmag than for the 270wsm.
