any one know how this bullet performs on deer? what kind of damage was done? did you get a exit wound? if not what did the bullet look like when recoverd?

I have used BST's previously and it was typical BT performance....meaning small hole in, lots of damage and good sized exit hole. IMO the Nosler Ballitic Tip( really the same as BST you mentioned minus the lubalox coating) is one of the best deer loads around and have yet to not be pleased with how it performed in a variety of situations. For the 308 I think it would be a devasting deer combo.

Over the past few years all the guys in our camp and a lot of other hunters I know have gone to Federal Premium Ballistic Tips. They have performed beyond my greatest expectations on every shot I've made since switching to them. Darn things rake havoc internally and the farthest any deer has run was 30 yards when hit in the boiler room. I've spent many unhappy hours tracking downed deer using other ammunition and now am quite satisfied. Now if I could just get them to paint the yardage on their side, it would be nice. :-)

Honestly, they are great, but no better than the winchester 150 gr powerpoint. both have smally exit wounds, massive internal destruction, and large exit wounds.

I got a browning bar 308 this year from my father inlaw. Let me say this. I LOVE this gun. I shoot a winchester 180 gr silver tip. it makes a little entry hole and a big exit hole!!! does massive internal damage. they dont go far after shot.. most fall right on the spot.

It's an outstanding whitetail killer --- I've shot the .30-06 165gr Ballistic Silvertip (essentially same as Nosler Ballistic Tips I used to reload) for years. They've never let me down. Put the crosshairs in a stickin' spot and pull the trigger and you'll bring home the venison every time.

I have killed 8 deer using the Winchester 150 gr BST in .308 and it is truly awsome. The biggest being a 230 pound 10 point. The bullet works great. small entrance hole large wound cavity and nice size exit hole. If you hit shoulder bone it will literaly explode the soldier and cause massive trama to the vitals. I highly recommend this round to anyone.
