Ok, guys I give in. You two win. I am dead wrong.
For everybody on the board, JamesB and HighDesert says Coreloks are the most accurate out there. So do yourselfs a favor and throw away (or send to me) your Federal, black hills, Your winchesters, and only buy coreloks, cause everybody should get subMOA performance out of them or your gun is junk

I think we got two arguments going here. I am not even talking about accuracy. I was just saying I put two good dimples in Remington primers and the gun did not shoot.
In my case, a three shot group at 100 yards measured 100 yds when you consider the gun did not fire.

I am not a corelokt fan, because they did not give me accuracy. When I started hunting we had 3 choices for over the counter Rem, Winchester and Imperial...so being the rem corelokt was the worst I never ever bought anymore. I know there are tons who swear they are a great bullet for deer, moose or whatever but I have seen jacket seperations from the corelokt SP bullet to even consider buying them. Ok before you jump on me and say BS, we all have opinions and I personally base my opinions on my own experience. ie of the latest sepration (sept 04) was a 225 gr Corelokt Sp out of a 338 win mag, the shot was approx 100-125 yards perfect broadside on a young bull elk, the jacket was found on the entrance side sandwiched between the ribs and the hide...it actually was found below the entrance hole. The only evidence of the lead core was a few bits and piece. The elk scampered about 150 yards and required a second shot to put him on the ground, this bullet was fired into the neck area which was also a corelokt and it hit the spine but must have deflect as it exited out the juglar area, never found the bullet in this case.
So while it may be a great bullet for you cases like this have me saying no thanks, I'll spend a few bucks more and use what I know has worked in the past for me.

You don't even need a precise measurement device to know that Corelockts are not well made. If you can't see that and think they are better then Sierra,Hornady,Nosler or Speer get better glasses or take up Golf. When they first came out they were a great bullet and over time the beancounters cheapened it by making the jacket thinner. They now have the Ultra version which probably performs like the original version and retains a little more weight but they subsequently charge more for it. Much More. I have had reasonable success with them at the range but I am betting my 700 would like to be the other brands I mentioned. I still wouldn't trust them on anything bigger then a Deer.

I also have had dudds in the core-lok line.
I had a box 120 gr. 25-06 rem where only half the box fired.
I have never bought them again, for a little more I can get the 117 gr Federal classic rounds and they are better quality to me anyway.

I've used Corelokts in everything from a 30-30 as a young hunter to .35 Remington to 243 (never hunted with it ) 270 and 30-06. All had very good accuracy and never failed in the field. I guess there's always that one incident that turns people to other brands. Bad luck it happened in the field and not at the range , but such is life.

I sure as hell would never recommend that anyone try anything that they don't care for. My Browning A Bolt just happens to shoot the 150 grain cor lokts very well. I have not used them a lot because I load 90 percent of my ammo and use mostly Noslet and Hornady bullets. What I have used have worked well and they have probably taken more game than most any other bullet. They have been around as long as I can remember. Many hunters I know use them for everything. Anyone who does not like them can use a ton of other bullets. There can be and is always a few bad shells in any brand. However its very rare and I doubt Remington had any more duds than anyone else. As long as there is machinery involved, those things can happen. I have used quite a few of them in my 45-70 with good luck.

hey guys heres my results from the new box of 308win 150 gr. core lokts i bought and shot today, I didnt realize remington changed the packaging of their core lokts kind of a funky lookin box. Heres a picture to show my results of my best 5 shot group. Again this group was shot with the scope set on 6 power but shot from a caldwell benchrest rather then sand bags like before.
To be honest i wasnt to impressed with this box of ammo, they showed some consistancy between a couple of rounds, some shots would bunch together just in different areas on the target. I suppose I might use them still for deer hunting but I think I may experiment with other ammunitions brands to see if they are any better. But its not a real high priority since my reloads accuracy smokes everything i have ever shot.
