what are your thoughts on the .270 WSM in a savage m11

I don't have any personal experience with the Savage but the 270 WSM is a cartridge that is perfectly capable of taking any hooved animal you will hunt. Except for maybe the buffalo. It is an extremely flat shooting cartridge with not too much recoil.

Not much recoil at all out of my model 70. That being said i have a savage in 243 that kicks harder. I dont think its the cartridges wrather the way the rifles fit me though. If your looking for a budget priced 270wsm I would consider the wal-mart special model 70s at 389.99 the scopes are junk though. Only problem with them is they have to feed from the clip, you cant just drop a shell in and close the bolt im told.

would the 7mm WSM be a better choice , or the .300 WSM be better than the .270 , i don't have a problem with recoil , and the reason i chose the savage is because they have a reputation of being really accurate. i already have 7 rifles in .30 caliber from the .30-30 to the .300 RUM , i've got a .280 and a .270 win. and i was looking for something different

If you already have that many rifles in that limited range of calibers (.277 - .308) why get another? It isn't going to add anything different or do anything different than those that you already have.
I would add a varmint rifle or something substantially bigger than the 30 claliber rifles that you have. Something like a 35 Whelen, 350 Rem. mag, 444 Marlin, 45-70, 375 JDJ, or even a lever gun in something like a 44 mag or 357 mag.

I agree with BigBulls, you have so many mid range guns you might try a caliber at the bottom or top of the spectrum. You might like a 25-06 or a 22-250 for varmits or go the other way and try a 35 whelen or .338 win mag or Ultra mag,you might even wan't a 375 H&H.If you don't have any lever guns you might wan't to try them out,a short lever 44 mag or 41 mag are fun to shoot and to plink with and you still have a good deer gun,or try the 444 marlin,450 marlin or the 45-70,or the new marlin in 480 Ruger/475 Linebaugh,if you can find one.

I tend to agree with bigbulls also. I personally don't see a need for the WSMs. Not that there is anything wrong with them. Don' want to start a riot or anything. Just my opinion.
I usually grab my .270 or my 7mm-08 for most of my hunting. If I need anything bigger I grab the 300 Win Mag. And if I don't want to lug that one around and I know the ranges will be <100 yds or so, I grab the little 45-70 guide gun with the Williams peep.
Being a southpaw I'm sort of limited to caliber selection for std. production guns but if I get another rifle it will probably be a .338 or maybe even a .416 or .375 H&H. You never know when a rogue elephant or cape buffalo may come charging through my neck of the PA woods!!!
