To be honest, the .30tc, what the creedmoor parent case is, hits harder out to 400 as well. Now for paper punchers, yes the 6.5 is a shooters dream. Low recoil, very flat, seems to buck the wind very well. But from a hunters aspect, factory ammo is about twice the cost of .308, it has little to no advantage over .308 until after 400 yards, and the .308 is just historically proven beyond any doubts. I just don't see the attraction that it has gathered. It's almost cult like.
IMHO, I think your above question covers it. The vast majority of hunters don't shoot past 400 yards and most of the time, it's less than 200 yards. For most hunters shooting black bear, deer or smaller game, the standard cartridges like 30-06, 308, 270, 243 and 223 pretty much cover everything. The gun mags have written extensively about the 6.5CM and that creates interest in the round. But for the vast majority of hunters, the standard cartridges work just fine and are more available and cheaper.

Yawn…

y’all, we’re 4 days away from 2025… The 6.5 Creedmoor turns old enough to VOTE in about 45 days…

The high cost factory ammo lie is tired. 6.5 creed has been at cost parity for equivalent loads for over a decade already…

I will have to yield on the cost factor for buying factory 6.5CM ammo. I'll admit I was surprised to find it comparable to 270 ammo. At least for the Lead Free ammo I'm stuck with in CA. I'm still not going to buy a 6.5 though. I just can't see spending all of the $$ to buy a new rifle, rings, scope, sling, butt pad and ammo when my 270 is long paid for and is deadly on deer and bear on the ranch I hunt. Now if I had to start over buying a rifle, I would probably lean towards another used 270 with history behind it since I hunt but don't shoot long range targets.

If by cost parity you mean anywhere from 60 cents to 1.80 per round difference in quality hunting factory ammo then okay. Even ammo depot has that difference. Maybe you know a place where one could get it at around the same price but I didn't see your "price parity" when I looked on 5 different and very popular ammo sites. But in all honesty, that is just one small part to my query NoMercy. Again, I fully understand the love fest from long range paper punchers and the very few who consistently fire on live game at over 400 yards but other than that, I just don't see the attraction to garner this cult like following.

It's been explained. At this point you're being deliberately obtuse. And you're clearly a smart fella. So, I'll give you credit for trying to generate traffic to an otherwise dead forum.

Marketing. And lots of options flooding the market.

None of us have made any argument saying it's better than x,y or z for all applications. The answer to your question is marketing and lots of available options.

Want a new 7mm-08? You'll find one or two at the big shops. You can find them on the used market. But walk into nearly any gun shop and you'll find multiple 6.5 creeds available, probably from several manufacturers and makes/ models.

It's a simple as that.

Doesn't have to make sense. Doesn't need to work mathematically on the ballistics. Just what it is.

I went to one ammo sight. I'm not
spending any more time looking at more. I look on the shelf locally at least once a week. Ammo prices are the same or cheaper around here. And there's usually more 6.5 options available than allot of other things. Again, good luck finding much 7mm-08 ammo out there

Bulk ammo is the same for hornady precision hunter ammo, 7mm is 5 bucks higher per 20
