Default ruger or savage 6.5 creedmoor or 308?

Hey guys new to the forum not sure if im asking in the right place. Currently have a remington 783 30-06 looking into getting a little lighter and less of a cannon rifle. Trying to not break the bank but still a rifle to have fun with seeing im a new hunter outside of upland. Looking into the savage arms axis 2 xp or the ruger american predator. Whats your thoughts on these? Also trying to decide on 6.5 creedmoor or 308. Rifle will be used for deer, coyote, and hopefully pig if i can find some. All info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

creedmoor! ruger american would be my choice, mine happens to be an AR-10, amazed by how it shoots.

Look into the CVA Cascade and the Cascade XT.....I'm looking at the XT as well as Ruger American Gen II Predator , leaning on the XT

308win won't really be a substantial step down compared to the 30-06 you already have. It's shooting the same bullet at a higher pressure in a smaller case which yields only slightly slower velocity than the 30-06 - in other words, very similar recoil and very similar results in the field. The 6.5 Creedmoor will largely match the 308win for hunting field efficacy, for all game save the largest of brown bear and moose in North America, and does so with around 20grn less powder (30% reduction) and 10-40grn less bullet than the 30-06. Much less recoil, but retaining a high sectional density for great penetration and high (highER) ballistic coefficient for improved downrange trajectory and impact energy.

Between the Savage Axis II XP and the Ruger American Predator GII, I'd pick the Ruger.

I personally have always been a Savage fan. Just never been a big fan of Ruger rifles. Their Redhawk and super Redhawk handguns on the other hand are my favorite wheel guns hands down.

Thanks for the helpful tips guys. Sportsman warehouse ended up having the ruger America predator gen ll on sale so I went with that in 6.5 creedmore. Now I just need to decide on a couple hundred dollar scope to pair with it.

I've had good luck with the lower end vortex options lately.

Diamond backs and crossfire.

Not bad for a sub $200 scope.

Arken for Chicom makes a very nice scope. I think you can get into one of their LH4 4-16s for under $250 or a EPL4 for under $300.

Ended up going with vortex for there warranty offered for there products. Nice to have a tool that will be covered the whole time i have it. Emailed direct to vortex and had response the next day. Told them the rifle I purchased and the animals I was targeting and they steered me onto two scopes. Good and better. I ended up going with there better the viper hs 2.5-10x44. 700$ dollar scope on sale for 299.99 at midway USA so couldn’t pass it up. I want thank you all for your help and suggestions.
