Default Deerfield Carbine

Just ordered a Ruger .44mag Deerfield Carbine looking for any comments or hands on knowledge about this rifle.
Any scope recomendations?
And what is the best type of ammo for this rifle?

Default RE: Deerfield Carbine

I think it is a great rifle. I used one this past deer season some. This gun will only fire full power, medium weight bullets though. 44 special, light 44 mag loads, and heavy bullets (270 grain and up) will sometimes jam. However, when using the winchester 250 gr. partion gold ammo, I get 1 1/2" groups at 100 yds. I think this rifle handles and points very well. You made a good decision if you plan on using this rifle for deer and black bear at woods ranges.
