Hoe do ya all sight in your scope?
I recently read an article that said if you are shooting a flat shooting rifle it is best to sight it in 2" high at 100 yards. It said this would give you the best performance at 300+ yards. I believe the reason was due to the line of sight at scope level vs barrel level.
I am shooing a 300WSM and I usually sight in about 1" high at 100 yards. I usually do not have shots over 200 so I am not too concerned.

Here is what I do with the following rifles; .223, .243, 25-06, .300WM.
I sight them in to hit DEAD-ON at 25 yards. They all have similar trajectories so they are all on at 25 yards, on again at 250 yards, and approximately 2" - 2 1/2" high at about 175yards. These are give or take an inch measurements. Most are also only about 3" low at 300 yds.
Have fun

Actually I would never sight any rifle in at 25 yards. With such a close sight in even a very small difference in the height of the scope above the bore will make a significant difference at longer ranges. As well a small error on actual zero will be ten times as much at 250 yards as it is at 25 yards. If the windage was actually 1/4" out at 25 yards it would be 2-1/2" out at 250yards.Also the trajectory will vary a fair bit with the load as an example a 300win mag shooting a 150gr bullet will have a much different trajectory than the same gun shooting a 200gr bullet. Sight in your rifle to be 2" high at 100 yards but shoot it at 200 yards and 300 yards to see where the point of impact really is.Ballistic tables are fine in theory but can often have significant error due to variances in actual velocities, varying ballistic co-efficients of bullets and the scope height above the bore.

jumper is right. That' s why I shoot mine the way I do. And NEVER, EVER believe someone else' s velocity publishings. If the charts gets those from the manufacturers, you can bet in real life that you' ll be 50-150 fps slower.
