"They paid the stupid law suits the same reason every other big company pays for frivolous laws suits. It's cheaper."
Now you're getting smart, LOL! It's cheaper to do that than fix the millions of rifles that are still out there with that trigger, full well knowing they will be in court again and again.

"If you think Remington was trying to save a few cents per gun, you are dumber than I thought."

Wrong again, because that is right in black and white in the Remington memos that have been introduced in more than one court case! I'm glad you're done because you haven't shown one thing to contradict what has been stated in the records that have been introduced in courts across the country.

[quote=Topgun 3006;3929498Name me one other gun company that's produced a product that's been involved in the death of 20+ people[/quote]

Out of millions of Remington rifles sold, 20+ dumbass's have pointed thier gun at someone and pulled the trigger and needed someone else to blame for thier stupidity.

If it's in black and white from Remington, why don't you copy it and let us all see it. I'll be waiting with an open mind.

That's absolute BS because you couldn't shoot that many times from birth to death in a normal lifetime!
You are acting like an immature for his age kid with no sense of reality. Until about ten years ago i was a serious competitor who fired 40,000-70,000 thousand rounds of centerfire ammo every year for 40 years . Now i fire 15,000-30-000 rounds per year. Do the math, kid. Keep on shilling for the anti-gun media, NBC loves you for it.

I have Sakos, Rugers, and pre 64 Model 70s and won't have to worry about any of them due to a shoddy design.
i have all those guns too. Most likely many more of them than you do. In the hands of an idiot, they are no safer than Remingtons.

NBC showed where its concerns lie when they took "testimony" from the wife killer who claimed his Remington "went off" all by its self and killed his wife?

I'm not talking about NBC, media hype, or any of the other **** that you guys keep saying is being done to rip Remington. Yes, Walker designed that trigger decades ago and shortly after it went into production he was advised of some problems that were occurring, investigated them and found out the mechanism he had designed had flaws. He redid the design and asked Remington to change and start producing their firearms at that time with that change and it would have cost them pennies per firearm. The top brass declined, but they did issue several minor recalls regarding the defect, but they were not widely publicized so that people with those firearms could have them taken care of.
Over the years they have continued to sell millions of firearms with that trigger mechanism and just in the last few years finally changed out the 700 series to a new design, but have kept the Walker trigger in their cheap 770 series to save money and compete with Savage and some of the other companies on entry level rifles. That, IMO, really makes no sense when people with very little experience in gun handling may purchase a rifle with an inherent flaw in the trigger. This isn't about making sure the rifle isn't pointed at anyone at any time, as that's a given with anyone who is, or has been, around firearms.
It's a fact that that trigger mechanism has caused thousands of rifles that have had no adjustments or anything else done to them to fire without the trigger being touched. Unfortunately a few were pointed in the wrong direction when that happened and the result has been some dead people. The one lady mentioned that killed her son was on one side of a trailer and the boy was on the other side completely out of sight when her gun went off. I would venture to say that could have happened to anyone out there. There is no way that any of us haven't pointed a gun at some object where it wouldn't do any harm like that out in the field. If the gun went off, what if the gun was even pointed at the ground and the bullet struck a rock and richocheted into and killed a person it wasn't pointed at.
I do apologize to the one member who has shot as much as he has stated. That is one person out of millions who would have shot even a fraction of that amount, but it would seem like a person that shoots that often would really want to investigate and find out that what I have mentioned is fact that is backed up by the designer himself.
Incidentally, I haven't watched one single second of film on NBC or anywhere else regarding this subject. All my comments have been based on facts and documents that were introduced into evidence in various court cases brought about against Remington on this issue. I wish now that I had C/Pd them into a folder and saved them because it took many hours doing that and I'm not about to start over when I don't even own one of their products. Also, I'm not a kid. I'll be 65 in a couple months and started handling guns, shooting, and hunting when I was five years old. Have a good weekend gentlemen and if you do nothing else this weekend, please read this unbiased article done by a gunsmith. This gives a perfect explanation of what I'm trying to convince people about and this guy is qualified as an expert:

Probably the best treatise on the Walker-Haskell trigger design that I assume is the one being so much meligned was done by a guy named H.J. Belk. It is fairly technical, but I believe a very fair treatment of this design. The bottom line in my book is that the issue with this design has been a known for decades.

I personally own a fine shooting 1970's vintage Remington Model 700 chambered for 300 Win. Mag. that fired on release of the safety two times before I was fully aware of the cause. After the second time (I thought the first was my doing) I contacted Remington and they sent me to a Remington approved gunsmith to make the fix. It has performed flawlessly since that repair was made some 30 years ago.

By far the number one issue in this whole deal ... and I have watched the TV shows that badgered Remington .... is that handling a fire-arm in a safe manner at all times is a must. In my book, a fire arm is nothing more than a machine designed to fire a projectile out the end of a "tube". And no machine that I know of is going to be flawless in either design or in performance .... and no machine is idiot proof.

Mojotex---Belk is the author of the article in the link I posted and asked everyone to read. It is rather technical, but can be followed along pretty easily if you know anything about how triggers and sears work in a firearm and look at the schematic. I agree with your last paragraph 100%, but this problem that Belk discusses really exacerbates a situation whether the firearm is mishandled or not. I hope the guys take a few minutes to read it because it's very informative and unbiased regarding the Remington company itself.

You guys type this like you think it is the first time we have all read it. Old news.

Thanks for the warning but I should be fine with my Remingtons.

My advice to you guys that have all the misfires when you take it off of safety.........

KEEP YOUR DAMN FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER!

One more thought...........The funny thing about the 20+ fatalities, not only were all 20 of them dumb enough to have their finger on the trigger, they were dumb enough to point their gun at their friend or family.

There is no disputing the fact that if their gun was pointed in the right direction, their friend or family would still be alive. If you break basic gun safety rules, bad things will happen.

Keep typing away there genius, as it's showing your low IQ!!! You obviously have a reading comprehension of 0 or haven't read anything to even know what the problem is. It was asked that facts be put up on this thread. I did that and the post following mine suggested that people read that same article by an expert gunsmith explaining this defect. It has nothing to do with your stupid large print BS! That isn't what's causing the problem, so you obviously don't even know what the problem is to keep spouting your BS!! One of these days when one of your Remingtons goes boom when you don't have your finger on the trigger maybe you'll get the bigger picture here instead of just pretending you know all!!! I hope you were never on a debate team since you just talk and don't say anything of substance.
