The availability of .45 Colt loads as sub-loads/plinking ammo greatly increases the versatility of a handgun so chambered.

The 454 Casull in the Super Redhawk is a nice gun. I had the 7 1/2" . There was a problem with it and Ruger swapped it out. I wanted the 9 1/2" instead of the 7 1/2". The problem I had and why Ruger exchanged it was the scope rings made bad cuts(indentations) in the frame .Ruger agreed there was a problem and made the exchange.Soarkrebel shop around. Prices vary allot on these guns. Retail is 745.00. I have seen them from 559.00 up to almost 700.00.It's nice being able to shoot the 45 Colt for practice.I haven't reloaded for mine yet. I have been shooting 454Casull Win 250 gr JHP's.They shoot well. I hope to reload for it soon and get a accurate load worked up.I'm sure you will be happy with the SRH.When you get yours email me and I will send you the correct way to install these rings. A friend works for Ruger, told me the correct way.Ruger has had many complaints about these rings. Apparently there was something wrong with the cut outs on my gun.Just let me know and I'll send the inf to you. Ruger Redhawk

"he has a 480 ruger says its awesome. tried to talk me into it ,but i think the 454 is for me. "

the .480 seems impressive, especially with heavy bullet (400 grain) handloads....but the .454 should shoot quite a bit flatter due to it's 400-450 fps velocity advantage.

I'm wondering if the 480 Ruger will get popular or fall to the way side? It's still a new Cartridge and I really haven't heard many talk about it.What do you guys think? I know Taurus has their Raging Bull chambered in the 480..........Ruger Redhawk

ruger, thanks. man today i was being nosey and found a burris 2x7 , posi lock. like new but had been on a encore. i'm going to try and work a good deal on it . i think posi lock will be nice on a 454. man, you ever thought about moving. folks shoot all the time around here. walk out the door and shoot. we dont need no stinking range. man you would have riots if you told these people they could only shoot on a range. alot build them on thier property. i am really beginning to overlook many of south arkansas bad things for our good ones.

soarkrebel, Glad I could help you.I'll findout about the diving places you asked about. The reason I don't shoot around my place mainly because my neighbors have Throughbred horses. They are already spooky enough.I have been thinking about moving for sometime now. I'm going to be looking into North Georgia.Getting kinda old to be starting over again.Good luck wheeling and dealing.Ruger Redhawk
