.460 S&W Mag vs. .454 Casull?
#3
Hey Bigcountry, I have the 460 also. I have never shot anything out of it but the 460 rounds. How much kick do you lose when you drop down to the 454. I've had mine for a while now but I have not really shot it a ton until last week. I had it zeroed in good but that was about it. I shot it almost everyday last week, and DAMN it wears ya down. I think if I'm gonna continue shooting it a lot, I'm gonna have to come down in the punch just a little. I'm gonna take it out and shoot it again on Sunday and see what I think after a few days rest.
I didn't mean to hijack the thread.

When I shoot the 200gr factory load very many times, it kicks my skinny arse! It wasn't to bad just getting it and keeping it zeroed in, but when I tried to shoot it a lot for fun, it wasn't very fun. [&o]

I can't say 200 kicks out of my gun. But I got a 10.5" barreled Perf Model, which is about as heavy as a light rifle.
I know when I shoot 454's out of a ruger, you better hang on. That combo kicks much harder than my Smith with compensater.

I have the 8 3/4 inch barrel, and it kicks more than I would like. I have a box of 45's and I'm gonna get a box of 454 casull's and go shooting this weekend and check out the difference. Thanks Bigcountry.

I always wear hearing protection when I'm just shooting. When I'm hunting, I don't. I have been planning on getting walkers game ear, but I have never got around to doing it.
Once when I was shooting my 460, I got my left thumb up to high by the cylinder. It blew a pretty good chunk off my thumb, be careful shooting that thing. In all my years of shooting that was one of my dumbest things to do.[X(]
