Tika is manufactured in Finland by Sako. I don't own one but do have a couple of Sako's. I was always of the impression that Tika is a quality firearm with cold hammer forged barrel, some hand made components, a Sako adjustable trigger and that each one is indivually inspected, pressure tested and checked for accuracy, accuracy being guaranteed for 1 MOA. Your the first one I've known to call them junk and have only otherwise heard them being praised. I'm sure you must have some specific knowledge and experience that caused you to form that opinion. I for one would be interested in that information if you wouldn't mind sharing it and expanding on your comment about them being junk. Thanks gg.

RE: New Guy with questions!
Thanks guys for the input. Figured there would be a lot of votes for the 30/06. I'd like to shoot one of the 7 mm short actions before deciding...problem is I don't know anyone that owns one. Guess the 30/06 makes more sense...I'll hold off on the 7 for now. It's not that I'm not comfortable at 300 yrds...just never taken any game past 200 yrds. so I haven't been exposed to the situation just yet. Just planning for the future...definitely longer shots in my future.

RE: New Guy with questions!
Go with the 30-06 the most versitile non mag cartrige.Hard to beat.
Browning makes a very accurate rifle. Ive owned Winchesters,1 very
unaccurate 700 Rem BDL ( 30-06 ) and a Savage 110 ( 7mmRemMag ) that was probably the most accurate of them all. I have read lots about short mags, not convinced. Ill stick with full size magnum cartrige.

Ya'll forgot to mention the Ruger!
This really is a Ford/Chevy thing! For the money, Savage is hard to beat, next comes the Winchesters and Remmingtons, then theres the Rugers, Brownings and Tikka! Pick one in your price range! As for the calibers you mentioned, I'd take the 30.06! I don't buy into the WSM and Ultra magnum craze! If the gun makers are making money and the shooters are happy, thats great! I don't see that they have produced anything that we didn't already have though, and which ones will survive the test of time!?
30.06, jack of all trades and cheaper to shoot too!

Bentbarrel,
Go with the Tikka(30-06).....you will never regret it. A QUALITY, WELL-MADE firearm. The 30-06 is not the most popular cartridge in the world for nothing!!!
DG,
Tikka's are made in Finland the last time I checked.
But you are right about the Browning's...... are Jap JUNK!!!

And Tikka is made in Finland, but Beretta owns Sako/Tikka manufacturing company.I should know,I live in Finland...But hopefully not for long...
