At one time Daly was a very good shotgun....they imported the Miruku and at a great price.....today we know it as Browning's Citori!

Then Daly imported the Zastava Mauser.....not too bad and at a good price.

Then they were bought up by KBI and KBI refused to honor Daly's warranty.....

I'm not at all sure that Daly/KBI is still in business importing firearms.....If they were I'd not give you a dime for a truck load of their guns!!!!

Charles Daly/KBI is still in business. I bought one, CD FH 20ga, about 4+ years on a whim. So far it has held up better than I expected. I got over 20 cases of shells run thru it and it is still shooting strong. Never had a single malfunction of any kind yet. I did break the oerating handle, but it was my fault, as I had it in the bed of my truck and something fell on it and broke it off. I called CD and they sent me2 new oneswithin a week at no charge. If it fell apart tomorrow I got my $250 worth out of it and then some, so I have no regrets about buying it.

I got one of those from Wally World a few years ago for $200, and it's served me well. It's currently my favorite piece for deer, turkey, and especially squirrels. I added Hi Viz fiber optic rifle sights to mine, it's a real slayer now.

Miroku?? KBI??

I do not believe CD ever imported any Miroku's?? If they did it was for a very short time. IMO all their japanese stack barrel's were made by SKB. The same company that makes Weatherby shotguns. At one time SKB made semi's for Weatherby and CD, and they were the exact same gun. This was during the late 80's.

CD is not owned by KBI??

Charles Daly is a trade name. CD is owned by Outdoor Sport's Headquarter's in Dayton, Ohio. They purchased the name in the late 70's or early 80's. Most of the early Daly over and under's were made by Zoli. CD has never made or imported anything, OSHI imported the items and then branded the items as CD. They did the same on scopes, MZ's, clothing, and other sporting good items. OSHI did it for the sole reason of profit. If you are the only one who has a product, and you market it well, then you can maximize profit. I should know, I marketed CD for years.

Now as far as quality is concerned. OSHI has imported many "Field Grade" over and under's. Some were good quality and some were not, so it really depends on which one you have!! In order to know which one you have you would need to find out when and where it was manufactured. That can be a difficult task. Especially since OSHI does not want you to know this. They buy from the lowest bidder!!!

Last I heard CD was owned by the Bonitz Brother's. You may know them as Jerry's Sporting goods. They also own OSHI. Tom.

"Meet Charles Daly. His name first appeared on firearms around 1875 after he and partner August Shoverling began importing hardware, sporting goods and eventually firearms in New York City. Joined by Joseph Gales several years later, the company became knows as Shoverling, Daly & Gales, a name the company would retain for quite some time. As the company continued to grow and prosper they decided to brand their firearms with an easily recognizable and memorable name and chose Charles Daly. From that day forward Charles Daly's name would grace some of the finest firearms in the world.
Shoverling, Daly & Gales thrived through the late 19th and early 20th century while the Charles Daly name earned a reputation for excellence by importing great firearms from such companies as Schiller, Linder (perhaps some of the finest firearms ever made), later Heym and Sauer of Germany, J&W Tolley of England, Newman of Belgium and Lefever Arms of New York. Charles Daly passed away unexpectedly in 1899 but the company continued on under the partnership that by then included his son, Charles Howard Daly.
In 1919 the partnership sold the company. The new owners continued the tradition of importing fine firearms from around the world and marketing them under the Charles Daly name. Henry Modell, Sloan's Sporting Goods, and Outdoor Sports Headquarters, have all laid claim to the Charles Daly brand name at one time or another while continuing to import excellent quality firearms. Over the years Beretta, Bernadelli, Garbi, Miroku and many other well-known manufacturers have had their firearms imported and sold in the United States sporting the Charles Daly name.
Meet Charles Daly The Shooting Sports Specialist. The modern era of Charles Daly began in 1996 when K.B.I. Inc.'s president, Michael Kassnar acquired the brand. Kassnar and his family had been involved in importing firearms from around the globe for more than half a century and had actually been supplying Outdoor Sports Headquarters with Charles Daly products from 1976 to 1985.
In keeping with the Charles Daly tradition of selling custom crafted firearms, K.B.I. Inc., began importing Italian and Spanish over-and-under and side-by-side shotguns and marketing them under the Charles Daly name. The line expanded with the inclusion of Charles Daly 1911 pistols and took off with the addition of a line of semi-automatic and pump action shotguns.
Today Charles Daly, The Shooting Sports Specialist has become a marquee name in the firearms industry by providing one of the most in-depth product lines including our 306 side-by-side shotgun that providles popular features at a price hundreds of dollars less than the competition. Four different lines of Over & Under shotguns: Model 105, Model 106, UltraLight and the new camouflauge 3½" Maxi-Mags. Slug Pumps & Autos for the serious slug shooter at an unbeatable price. Our new line of Cowboy Long Guns and Revolvers will certainly get the attention of everybody from the active cowboy shooter to the replica collector. Our pistol line consists of our two 1911 models: The Field .45ACP 1911s and the Polymer Framed light-weight M-5.
Like the Charles Daly of old, Charles Daly, The Shooting Sports Specialist is a growing, fluid, innovative company that constantly adjusts to market dynamics. Charles Daly was one of the first to react to innovations in camouflage techniques and now offers a whole line of the revolutionary Advantage Timber HD, Realtree Hardwoods HD, Advantage Max-4 HD, the new All Purpose HD and the All Purpose Green HD on the entire line of Field Grade semi-auto and pump action shotguns including the 3½" chambered Maxi-Mag shotguns.
In the future, Charles Daly The Shooting Sports Specialist will continue to look for new and pioneering products while improving and upgrading the current product line, all the while keeping focused on the goal of providing custom crafted products at a competitive price."

Thanks for the additional information. Some of the dates do not make any sense to me. I was selling Kassnar MZ's in the 80's and early 90's. And many of the imported shotguns(by Kassnar) predate the dates given. I believe some of the information(dates) in the second part is wrong, but that is just my opinion. I know that I owned CD shotguns(imported by Kassnar)before 1996. As a matter of fact I no longer worked for them in 1996. And if you call Outdoor Sports they will tell you they own CD. But what the heck. I do not believe that OSHI was an importer-so I guess they needed to use some one. But I still do not believe that Kassnar owns the "Trade Name", Tom.
