I agree with jame on a 357/38 but make sure it isnt one of them superlite models couse the can kick harder then a 44
I think that is an overexaggeration, I have shot a super lite before, and it wasn't even close to a full power 44 mag.

At the range where I work, I see women carrying38's and 44 mags all the time, I have been really surprised at how well they've handled them, then again these arn't the kinda girls you take home to mom, either.

You should get a Taurus in the 40 S&W caliber, my dad has one, and it shoots great! The 40 S&W was createdto replace the 9mm on the police force to have better killing power, and also to lower the recoil that is caused by the .357. I shoot the 40 S&W, and I never feel pain in my hand or anything. I think that would be the best choice.Good Luck.

BTW, you might want to adjust the trigger-pull on the Tauruses,at least the model my dad has had that problem, you would want to go to a gunsmith to get the trigger adjusted, but it won't be a problem, any gunsmith can do it.

i personally love my little semi-auto buckmark .22. it's pretty loud for a .22 but the ammo is cheap, there's little to no recoil, and it's just plain ol' fun.

I agree with everyone recommending a .22 LR. My wife loves my Model 41 Smith, and she can shoot all she wants and I don't go broke. Even with all the centerfire handguns I own, I still enjoy shooting my .22's. In fact, I will probably add another one to the aresenal one of these days. Semi-auto .22 pistols are just plain fun.

Start her out with a nice .22 that fits her hand-either a semiauto like the Ruger or anold Colt Woodsman or possibly a medium frame revolver like the S&W K22. The main requirement is that it fit her hand, not be too large for her to grip correctly. Once she gets good, she can move up to a medium-frame .357, starting with .38 Spec, target ammo, then try some standard magnum loads. Or maybe she'd like a medium sized .45 ACP like one of the Kimbers......

I agree with everybody that has recommended a .22. I have 2 ruger Mark II's, and one Ruger Mark III and love them. All my other friends all have larger pistols and they always want to borrow mine to play with. we sit out back and shoot a brick of shells at a time and get a lot of practice. Then when you try to shoot the larger pistols you are that much better.

I would suggest the same as James. Get a 357 mag and then load it up with .38sp. The extra weight of the .357 frame will really take any bite out of the .38.
