I have one and sold one many years back and neither has had a problem. In fact my son in law and I went and busted some clays 2 weeks ago and I ran about 3 boxes through it with out a problem and it had not been used in about 8 years or so. I have several other shot guns and dug it out of the safe to let him use it and ended up useing it my self good gun nice price he may take less wouldn't hurt to ask

I don't have the Ranger but I do have a Winchester Model 1400 MKII. It's the best shotgun I've ever shot, lightweight too. I've put a lot of shells through it without a problem. The one I've got is 2 3/4 shells only.

I also love my 12ga 1400 ranger, after looking at my friends new model semi auto. The inside parts look the same. I think the reason they stopped making the 1400's is because they wanted to up grade the looks of the gun. After weighing, mine shows 6.8 pounds that's light. For a semi auto 12ga. it's the lightest I've ever picked up.

Oil both the magazine front and back and the eject spring well. It should be hard to push a shell through the magazine to load. If it is real easy to load then after oiling then the magazine spring has flown south for the winter.

Now you will want the main spring to move far enough back to extract a shell. If it is really hard to pull the bolt open to unload your unfired rounds. And or you cannot pull the bolt handle far enough to unload it. Then oil the heck out of the piston, spring and the slides. Let it sit barrel down on the floor, couple hours then oil the heck out of the barrel and let stand on the butt of the gun. After you have oil soaked it and let it sit for a while.

Wipe out all the oil with a rage. Take a small tube of gun oil with you every time you shoot. After every box of shells oil the extractor claw with only a drop or two of oil. Ever time you shoot it clean and oil the said parts, and if nothing is broke already, you should never have any more problems. I hope this helps, you may have done all this and need to replace your action or claw extractor?

Yes and also have a Winchester model 1400 ranger, my dad never shot the gun. He had a heart attract after he bought the gun and it site since 1993. But on new years day dad gave me his 1400 and a marlin 1776-1976 bicentennial Marlin 60 special edition. With gold trigger and gold bolt handle and a gold inlay medallion. Laid in the tail or close to the rear of the butt end of the butt. Shows a man and a young boy with both holding a marlin 60 and half the top half of the circle says shout responsible. And the bottom of the inlaid medallion says safety first, Also the barrel is three inches longer than the standard barrel. The butt of the tail has no curve at the top like the stock made butt stock Both guns not a scratch anywhere on both guns. Dad and I both have some guns and pistols old cowboy colt. Some are so old you can't find cartririge any more. Luckily I have a couple military boxes of spent shells to reload my newest cowboy is worth $4000.00 or more at action and on a good day 5,000.00 up to $6000.00. I am not trying to brag but my great great grand father passed his guns down to my great grand father who passessed them down to dad and then to me. I have two more brothers but neither of then have any interest in fire arms. lucky me.
