Whatever lets you sleep at night, but your numbers are way off. The fact of the matter is you can get better BC and SD with a 140 grain 7mm than you can with a 100 grain 6mm. You end up with almost identical velocities and trajectories with over 600 foot lbs energy difference. Truth hurts don't it?

I fail to see the major difference between a 6mm-08 and a 7mm-08.
About 200lbs of energy for the 7mm at the cost of being 200fps slower and about 2-4 inches more bullet drop. thats all the difference, nothing more nothing less, they are basically the same gun whether you like it or not.
the 7-08 is nothing more than a .243 with a 140 gr bullet on the end of it.

Did you just quote yourself? You really are grasping at straws. And the 7-08 is more than a 243 with a 140 gr bullet on the end of it. It is a little thing called caliber. Say it slowly so it sinks in, CALIBER. 1mm might not sound like much, but it can make a big difference.

guess you didnt read the first page. And the differnce in energy is about 200lbs not 600. At the cost of being slower and dropping faster.

Quite frankly I don't care what you buy.

Ok, I gotta ask this. What exactly is your point? What are you trying to prove?

Again, you really need to look at something besides Sierra bullets.

How about these

AccuTip..........................BC............... ....Muzzel velocity............Energy
243, 95ge......................355..................... ...3120......................2053

7-08140gr......................486.................. ......2860......................2542

That is just shy of 500 lbs difference. And their is only 2" of drop difference at 500 yards between the tow. Not to mention the fact the 243 has 462 pounds less at that distance.

But that being said. If I could use a rifle in this state for deer, I would probably pick the 243. Just for the fact I could also use it on coyotes. I can't afford to have every gun I want right now. And my next yote gun will be a 243. I want something a little more than the 22-250 for the long shots. They sure do bounce around for quite a while when you hit them past 200 yards. Got any recommendations?

Oooooooh noooooooo !
the TKO and momentum theory's. hahahaha ! What a bunch of bunk !
You guys that shoot .300 mags should just throw them guns away and buy 45-70's because heres how those numbers stack up

.......................................momentum... ...........TKO
300 mag 180 gr bullet..........52.28...................22.8
45-70 405 gr.bullet..............53.8.....................34
.444 240 gr.........................56.4................... ..35.5
As you see here the .300 mag is inferior to these two other cartridges.
Buwahahahahaha ! Who believes this crap. Totall bunk !
This web site http://www.xmission.com/~fractil/math/kp.html#test was posted by a mathmatician who developed an equation to combine the kinetic energy of motion with inertial energy or momentum. It takes a while to get through it, but it offers good and bad for big and small depending on different scenerios. More fuel for the fire?

Zrex,

You really do have blinders on when it comes to the 243 don't you.
I've used both on deer and there really is a performance difference between the two.

The .040 caliber difference between 6mm and 7mm is huge. You can physically see the difference. That's a greater difference than between 308 and 338 bullets. I don't hear many people saying a 300 Win Mag is superior to a 338 Win Mag because it shoots a lighter bullet a little flatter.

Oh well, shoot what you like and I'll shoot what I like. I'm finished with this thread.
