This is very funny stuff! I have had my 710 for 3 years and yes it will shoot a jagged hole at 100yards (with Hornady 150g interlock) I'm sure I will be slammed by everybody but the barrel is the most important thing about any rifle and the 710 has never failed to put a hole where aimed!

If you drive a Corvette and get outran by a Festiva I could see how this would upset you. The same holds true for my $329 710 outshooting something that you have $1000 or more invested in.

The only complaint I have is the Bushnell scope is a piece of crap other than that I have nothing bad to say at all.

But isn't often so strange, no established members report ragged holes. Just people with 1 post. Then you never hear from them again. Must be a coincidense.

I signed up because this rifle is not getting the respect it deserves. It is a good rifle! I use guns as tools (what they are intended for) not a showpiece of how much money I make or how much money I can piss away! Bottom line is it will put a hole where I want it!

Not sure about the 710 but I've got the 700 in 7MM Ultra Mag and I love it. Very accurate, and it seem very well made to me. Bolt action is extremely smooth and I've never had any problem with it. Plus I got it for about half the price brand new cause a guy lost his job and needed the cash. Bet 350.00 I ever spent on a gun still in the box.

Not sure what you are getting jlong. Did someone accuse of the above statement? Your not making much sense.

Jlong since you brought up using it as a tool me too (heck we all do). There are cheap tools and then there are good tools; even with cheap tools you get what you pay for. I bought a cheap set of sockets to put in my truck for fixing my mowers ( I do lawn and garden work) first time I went to use it the teth in the rachet slipped and I smashed a couple of knuckels ( you all can stop snickering now). Now I use "craftsman" no more problem. I wish you well with your 710.

Yes the 710 is affordable not "cheap". I consider a gun "cheap" when it will not shoot consistant. Remington cut corners on looks and bells and whistles but not on the barrels.

I get the impression that half the people who slammed the 710 have never even held or fired one. Someone (who has owned one) needed to chime in with a honest review on the performance of this rifle. With the proper break in and ammunition (most important) this rifle has been one of the best I have owned. The only problem I have had is with Winchester Supreme ammo, I could not get it to group well, other than that this is a nice rifle for the money!

There isn't a part of this gun where Remington didn't cut corners nowhere. Can you say Chevetter Scooter or is that before your time?

Once again I would like to point out that your barrel is pressed in, not screwed in, not pinned in, not welded in, but PRESSED. Exactly how long do you think it will stay tight? There was once a company that made a 22 revolver with a pressed in barrel. I believe it was FIE. You don't see them anymore. Any idea why? I will give you a hint, THE BARRELS SHOT LOOSE ON THEM AND FELL OFF.

I'm done here. Rifle season starts in the morning and I will have better things to do than argue with anyone.

I should post more because according to bigcountry your marksmanship should be judged by how many post you have.......but thats another can of worms. Just don't like being called a liar.

Happy Hunting and good luck to everyone.
