Just bought the remington 700 T. No problems here, under an inch out of the box with federal factory ammo, clean, crisp triger, fiished nicely and balanced well....all at 5.25 lbs..now thats a mtn rifle!!

movementshot, take a look at Savage. These are accurate dependable rifles. And the new Accutrigger is getting a lot of attention in the shooting industry. The 111 models sell for around 400.00

I am looking at my gun safe as i type and yep most of my rifles are remingtons. i recently aquired a ruger m77 (not mkII) that was cherry!!! but the remingtons i have ALL shoot very well! and are of great quality but(theres always one of those!
) they are all older guns and not recent remingtons.
i wouldnt sell any of them.
But danny i would have snatched up some older remington 700's if the price could have gotten right.

Just joined this site and this is my first post here. And I'm gonna go agin' the grain. Upfront, I'm a Remington kinda guy( I own several rifles and shotguns). Just bought a 710. Why - when it's so cheaply made, ugly as the face of sin, etc? I've heard it all, both from my buds and from what I've read here.
I like the 710 because it's reliable. I like the 710 because it's accurate and not as persnickety about what ammo it shoots. I like it because it's brutally ugly - no concerns about ruining a beautiful piece of wood or deeply blued piece of steel. I like it because it's simple. Flaws? Yes, but all mass produced rifles have flaws. Much is made about the recalls on the 710. That's typical if you think about it - Some of the rifles we shoot round after round in and sing their praises to all that will listen are mature designs. Designs that when first introduced 35 - 40 years ago had difficult births. Designs that suffered through quality control issues through the years.
Don't be so hasty in the judgement of the 710. Remington should be praised for it's attempt to bring a decent rifle package decently priced to the public.

abn I wouldnt take much of the bashing very seriously. The 710 just gives most another reason to bash Remingtons. If you like it then it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks.

We all have likes and dislikes. My grandfather wouldn't have been caught in anything but a ford pick-up (I'm not making this up - My fam drove him to the graveyard in his F-100 because the hearse was a Caddy) and would rather starve than shoot a gun that wasn't a Remington. I'm secure in my judgement of guns to know that the 710 is a good piece with a lot of potential. It's not a 700, but then it wasn't intended to be. Thanx for the support.

Bravo, abnhunter....
I must completely agree. I've had 4 Remingtons, over the last 12 years.... (1-Model 7 and 3-700's)... and they ALL have been good rifles. The two that I have now are both ADL synthetics - the cheapest 700's that Remington sells. These two rifles are the best of the ones I've owned (in terms of accuracy and functional reliability, which is all I really care about). That does NOT mean that Remingtons are the best, or, in fact better than any other brand. It simply means that I have had good service from them - so, I am satisfied.
As you say, the 710 was designed as a "budget" rifle.... why expect it to be more than that? With time and development, whatever "bugs" may exist in the 710 will likely be fixed - just as with ANY other product involving new technology, or design.
I am always dismayed by people who, often based on limited experience (or mere heresay..."I heard it from a friend of my cousin Leo"... ) , will categorically declare that "such and such" brand or model is "junk". There are lots of good rifles on the market - (many different brands/models) ! Why do some find it necessary to berate those that don't happen to be their particular "pet" brand/model ? Though EVERYONE has an absolute right to their opinion, no matter how unpopular, I believe that projecting unqualified assertions does us all a dis-service.... and merely creates bad
feelings, which are counter-productive. As you said, "we all have our likes and dislikes". We certainly should respect each other's opinions... but, if certain assertions are intended to be MORE than mere opinions... then they should be backed by solid experience and personal knowledge of the particular subject of discussion.
Best Regards to all.
