Calm down guys. It's not worth getting upset over.Everybody is entitled to their opinions, that's what makes these boards what they are.Name calling will get us nowhere.Let's put this behind us and move on for everybodies sake.

New and used, nobody was touching them. In fact, I ran across one guy who accurizes firearms and he said he'd rather work with a Savage action than either the 700 or a Winchester.
Wasn't just Remingtons you were criticizing now was it? If you don't like my responses just ignore them I have no problem with that . I tell you what I will completely ignore anything you post from now on for obvious reasons. I think that will take care of it.

How does the above statement make ME the one who is criticizing Winchester? I was simply stating what HE said.

Huh what planet are you on ?
remind me never to send a gun to that area for any sort of repairs since it seems you have Idiots for gunsmiths in that area.

Maybe I took those comments a little personal. But I think anybody would. I have absolutely NO problem ignoring you, or any of your advise, after this.

and then quote an Idiot of a Gunsmith and expect to get no flack about it. Get Real.

Don't attack someone and expect them to lie down for it.

Thanks RR, take care.

Now dont take this the wrong way. Becouse I am not getting in the middle of this.

But 90% of the guns I own, are Remingtons, and I am a very devoted Remington fan. All of mine shoot very well.( 1 inch and under) But I have had BAD rifles in MOST of the different types of rifles made by a veriety of gun makers. The last on was my Ruger #1 in the 7 mm Rem mag.

I prob. will never buy anouther Ruger #1 in my life. But that doesnt mean that I wont buy one of their M77's. Ruger makes fine rifles.

To each their own.

Sort of like that old saying:
ONE MANS TRASH IS ANOUTHER MANS TREASURE.

Just a thought.

Devoted Remington man here. I have between 10-15 at this time...rifles and shotguns...and have yet to EVER have a malfunction in any of them. These were made from the late 50's right up till the late 90's. In fact my newest Remington is my best shooter. If they have quality control problems you couldnt tell it in 98% of the deer camps int his state. I cant wait till my piggy bank gets fat again so I can get my hands on a new Mtn. Rifle. I have had a couple of other makes that were turds......but the one that made me the maddest was the easiest to fix. Im not gonna bad mouth either of them. Will I try that brand again....sure will if the price is right.

To sum it up...I love all guns...but I am sticking with the the Rem's. I wanna try a Featherweight Model 70 soon but its after the Mtn Rifle. Theres too many chices out there to run down one brand...everybody turns out a lemon occasionally.

I've owned Remington rifles and shotguns all my life with the exception of my very first rifle which was a Savage. I'm a big Remington fan and have nothing but good things to say about Remington firearms except for the 710 which imo is a piece of junk. Every Remington 700 i've owned and currently own have been shooters and what very few problems i've encounted with them were minor problems and an easy fix. My next rifle purchase will be a Remington Mountain Rifle chambered in 260rem. Every rifle manufacturer can put out a lemon once in a while and i know Remington is no exception to that but i've never had a bad Remington firearm. Good luck.

Ruger is the best deal for the money. They are cheaper than Remington and they even include rings and bases. I have a Ruger #1 in 7x57 mauser and a M77 all weather in 300 WSM and both of them shoot under 1 inch at 100 yards. I have 5 Ruger firearms total and I highly recomend them.

I have not had any problem with the 700 Rem in the 20 or so that I have had. I like the 700 ADL for right around 400 dollars. I have had great service from my Savage guns as well. I keep looking for this declining quality of the Remington 700. I ain't seen it. I will be real happy to buy up all the 700's I can afford. You can throw me in that briar patch.

I would have to agree with you. I have more than one Remington 700 and I can't find a thing wrong with them. I do like the mountain rifle!
