RE: Remington 700
Just joined this site and this is my first post here. And I'm gonna go agin' the grain. Upfront, I'm a Remington kinda guy( I own several rifles and shotguns). Just bought a 710. Why - when it's so cheaply made, ugly as the face of sin, etc? I've heard it all, both from my buds and from what I've read here.
I like the 710 because it's reliable. I like the 710 because it's accurate and not as persnickety about what ammo it shoots. I like it because it's brutally ugly - no concerns about ruining a beautiful piece of wood or deeply blued piece of steel. I like it because it's simple. Flaws? Yes, but all mass produced rifles have flaws. Much is made about the recalls on the 710. That's typical if you think about it - Some of the rifles we shoot round after round in and sing their praises to all that will listen are mature designs. Designs that when first introduced 35 - 40 years ago had difficult births. Designs that suffered through quality control issues through the years.
Don't be so hasty in the judgement of the 710. Remington should be praised for it's attempt to bring a decent rifle package decently priced to the public.
