if you go with a 6.5 lilja, get an 8 twist, the extra spin on the bullet helps expansion at distance.

Ok thanks I pretty well set on 26 nosler. What I was reading said you want a 1:8 twist.

I always go just to the fast side for twist, the extra spin helps expansion and does not harm accuracy, and as better heavier bullets become available you can stabilize them

Since there are already a ton of 7mm options....I guess one more won't hurt, but its certainly not finding a niche to fill, doubt its very popular.

I don't usually disagree with RR, but the 28 is a bit better then the STW or RUM. Same velocity as a RUM but 1/4" shorter OAL with less powder.

We just got dies for a 27 Nosler.

The 26 is overrated, a .264 Winny is the ticket for a factory round.

my stw runs a 160 at 3340 fps, or a 140 at 3550, these are loads from layne simpsons data which I chronied in my rifle, don't thinka 28 can do that, and the stw was developed because it made full use of the 700 long magnum action, Remington brought of the rum as a fad because it was beltless, but if you act as if the belt isn't there and headspace them on the shoulder, the belt means nothing.
If you followed the info from remmy the year before and the year after, the factory specs of the stw was down graded to make the rum look better. they dropped the published MV for the stw 200 ft so it was slower than the rum.

Well said RR! I am not a long range shooter but it does interest me. I am probably, more than likely going to buy my bosses Sendero 7mm STW. I had a Sendero a few years back in the 300RUM and I miss it. Didn't like to carry it hunting, to heavy for the type of hunting I do but it was a really nice gun. Pretty much a big Varmiter.

Pretty much a big varmiter. I'd say that's right on target if you want to shoot long range. Pencil barrels are just not as accurate with that much powder volume. It takes a might fine tuned rifle to blast out 90+ grains of powder on target. Out of the box the Sendero is one of the better long range shooters. More barrel mass less barrel whip and vibration. I truly never understood barrel vibration until playing with Ruger No. 1's. There is all kinds of ways to tune a rifle barrel. But it can drive you crazy in the mean time.
