Default RE: BSA and Tasco scopes

I' ve had a High Country Tasco 4-16x32mm (their top of the line model when I bought it) for years, it' s not on my primary as it was when I first got it for a starter scope, but over the years, it' s never failed me. It' s not a good glass, by any means, and I don' t think they make them that good anymore even in their top of the line models (pretty sure they don' t make the HC line anymore), for the money, a bushnell from wallyworld (even though I don' t condone buying ANYTHING to do with hunting from wally world) is a much better buy at $150. You should look into used glasses if you can' t afford a new one, used Leupolds I have seen have gone for $100 in near new condition (depreciation on glass is really fast).

I' m not going to bash them as many others have, but I' m going to advise against buying a tasco, bsa, bec, or simmons, unless you buy their top of the line models, and by then, you' re already spending enough cash to buy a better quality scope in a different brand for less $$. I agree that you shouldn' t put a $5 saddle on a $1000 horse, but the real saying is, don' t put a $40 saddle on a $5 saddle, why pay more for your glass than you did for your rifle? A $150-175 Bushnell will do you fine for the rest of your life, advancing past that is your choice. I' ve had this tasco for over a decade I' d imagine, and shot it more than anything should be (spent time on semi-autos a lot) and it' s never let me down, nor shifted zero on me, but as I said, they don' t make them like that anymore. But, I do have better glasses on my serious rifles now, and the tasco takes a seat on the " beat around" , if that tells you anything.
