Default Para Warthog Review

I recently purchased one for concealed carry. I am very impressed with the performance. I thought the gun would be horendus to shoot but recoil is no different than a full size 1911. I dont know how they did that. Must be something about the ergonomics. Out of the 1st 200 rounds I had 2 FTF and 2 stove pipes. Thats not bad when the gun requires a 300 round break in period. Other than that the gun ran flawlwessly. I was a little sceptical about buying a shorty 1911 but so far I am very satisfied with th Para's performance.

Hope it works out for you. What ammo did you run thru?

Yes. Well, I would like to know how it does after the break in period. When I had to carry for duty, although it was a bit of a pain in the tail, I cycled my live rounds through before I carried them into the bush, to make sure they would chamber. Maybe just superstitious.

Anyway, happy shooting and keep the ol' ear plugs handy.

I've got two full sized P14's and have had good luck with both. The only necessary repair has been replacement of the original mag-releases. The originals were made of a plastic/polymer, and wore out over time. I replaced them with stainless steel aftermarket parts.

Sometimes they can be picky about ammo. My first was an alloy framed P14. My second was a stainless P14 Limited. TheLimitedhad all kinds ofFTF malfunctions when using the reloads that I had developed for the alloy model. I shortened the OAL from 1.25 to 1.246, and haven't had a malfunction ineither pistol since, with thousands of rounds through each...

Well I fired the last 100 rounds for break in yesterday. This time I tried some remington 230 hollow points. Out of 100 rounds I had 2 FTF. And that happened when I was not holding the gun very steady so I attribute it to that. I think this ones a keeper.

I'm no expert, but uh, I'd have to say that amount of malfunctions isn't acceptable, at least to me. You may want to contact Para and get their take on it.

I have to disagree here. I have had a few 45's, lots of 9mm, 40's, 357sigs, and out of the thousands and thousands of rounds, possibly more, I only had maybe10 feeding/ejecting problems. New or used, broke in or not. And a few of those was my reloading mistakes or weak loads.

I dont' understand what could be causing your FTF. Stovepipes, could be bad ejection, or weak ammo. Is there a dimple where the firing pin hit the primer?

No, it was the way I was holding it. It says in the manuel that with the sub compact (3" barrel) 1911's, you have to have a solid wrist(no limp wrist). It is a tiny gun. The smallest 1911 I have ever seen. I have since fired many round through the gun with no problems at all. I am confident thet it is reliable.

I find it really amazing that the pistol wouldn't recoil more than a full-size, that's something, how much did it cost?

It is chambered in .45 ACP, right?
