RE: New Remington 710 rifle
Right on the money, Chantecler.
It's a shame that the same company that produces the 700 & XP100, markets such an undependable, dangerous firearm. I won't sell them! And it makes me a little sad everytime I see some youngster that spent his hard earned/saved money on this boat anchor. He's just stuck with it cause he spent everything he had on it, when he should have waited and saved for something better. Most of the people who defend the 710 are people who are afraid to admit they bought a dud rifle. [/quote] |

I see kids and adults all the time at gun shops and Wally World around here, looking at the 710, and sometimes even buying it, I just want to tell them that they shouldn't do that, but hey, it isn't my business that they are wasting their money. |
RE: New Remington 710 rifle
Yeah that's funny cause people ask me several times weekly what rifle/handgun, bullet, etc they should use for "X" I usually avoid answering since they've usually got their minds made up on something stupid and are just looking for someone else to agree. Kinda likecrackheads needing other junkies around them. Stupidity loves company it seems.

RE: New Remington 710 rifle
I was one of the biggest supporters of the 710, even being the one who resurrected this thread which had been dead for nearly 6 months before I dug it up. Although I dont dissaprove of the gun, I cannot recommend it to anybody anymore. I ended up trading mine in after the final cleaning I gave it. My son shot a deer with it about 6 weeks ago and when I went to clean it I found a crack near the reciever where the clip slides in. Now this crack was not affecting performance any, and may not have ever became an issue but I was not about to take that chance. When the shop that I bought the gun from told me that they would give me 80% trade in on what I paid for the gun, I took them up on that and traded it in on a Marlin 1894 44 Magnum lever gun. The 710 performed flawlessly, shot my family 2 descent sized deer and may have worked flawlessly for years. But after all of the horror stories that I have read about, in this thread and others I decided to trade it in when I found that crack. I still believe that the gun is ok for a hunter on a tight budget, one that will mostly just sit and wait for a deer to come to them. But I really cannot recommend it anymore. Chantecler111, although I didnt agree with everything you said negetive about the gun, you are mostly right. It was fun arguing with you about it though lol.

TUK, what crack? In the receiver?

RE: New Remington 710 rifle
I never had any. I belong to a couple of other forums, and although sometimes these posts/debates get heated I do understand that people have a right to thier own opinion. I appreciate the information that you do share with myself and others. Have a good one.
