RE: New Remington 710 rifle
Well I for one did own a Remington 710 in the .270 variety and it was a descent rifle. It shot 2 deer in 2 years, which is exactly what it was bought for. Now, on the other hand I did trade it back in on a Marlin 1894 44 magnum levergun while the 710 was still worth something. For me the 710 was worth every penny. I ended up with a straight shooting gun with a scope for under $350 and got 2 deer with it and never had any problems with it. And also, for elgallo 114 I think that your groups where just fine for a weekend shooter. For the majority of us enthusiests being able to group under 2 inches without all the shooting rests or bench rests is about all we can expect. And Chantecler111, when I revived this thread a month or so ago I did respect your opinion, but after seeing you badmouth several people who where just expressing thier opinions or experiences with thier 710 it just shows that you are a bully and just because you sight in a few rifles on the weekend it doesnt make you an expert on guns in general. The 710 is what it is, it is the Geo Metro of the gun world. It is cheap and gets the job done, but you do get what you pay for with no bells or whistles.

RE: New Remington 710 rifle
ORIGINAL: elgallo114 Another 710 thread where everyone s-talks the rifle and very few of you own one or have even shot one. Now that I said that, I'm sure you'll say you have. Whatever. Every "gunsmith" or "gun dealer" on this board says "all" their customers have had problems with them. Yet, me and my 2 buddies who bought one have never had problems with them. And we all put 2 or 3 hundred rounds a year through them. Been three years now. I don't know how many rifles were affected by the recall, but according to Remington, any other problems reported and serviced under warranty numbered about the sames as for their other lines. IN THEIR PRICE RANGE, they are just as good as any other rifle. The Savage has it's problems too, but you never hear about them. Why? Cuz they stuck to the mold and didn't try anything new. That's what people don't like about the 710. There's some innovative ideas incorporated on it and a lot of people just don't like the change. Fine. Don't buy it. But to bad mouth something you've no experience with is stupid and irresponsible. I've seen many Savage's on the shelf already broken. All a broken rifle on the shelf means is that the store has poor supervision of idiot customers abusing the rifles when they are looking at them. Anything can break. Typical whinny remarks.. "They had a recall!" So has Honda and Lexus. It happens. The mark of a good company is one that will stand by it's product and recall it if necessary. "They're made with some plastic!" So is the space shuttle, spy satalites, and most of your computer. Plastic does not mean crap. It does not mean weaker than metal. In fact, in a lot of ways, plastic is more durable and longer lasting than most metals. "They feel like junk!" So does the M16 and all it's varients. And regardless of some of your opinions of the M16 series, it is still the standard weapon of the baddest Mother F'ing military in the world. And, it's also the highest selling rifle in thecivilian market. It's the most used platform for match rifles and varmint rifles. So, don't like the 710? Who cares. Own one for a few years then talk. Mines fine. Not my first choice. Not my last. I got what I paid for, and that's all I ever ask. |
RE: New Remington 710 rifle
The 710 may have been a bad gun for a few people. But I myself know of 4 people that have owned them not counting myself and they are all very pleased with thier guns. These are all people who own much more expensive guns as well, but bought a 710 for its price and features. They all know that the 710 is not a high end gun but they all enjoy shooting their 710 very much. Now if that bothers you then so be it. Have a nice day.
