Doegirl, Squirrel has mis-read what you've stated, because of the way you worded it. He did not read "tongue in cheek" into your post. The two of you are on the same team, just not on the same wave length.

Absolutely, DNK. Couldn't of said it better. Consider the subject officially "dropped".

Just how many of you were raised to to state yer opinions openly to or about folks! Whatever happened to manners and say nice things or nothing at all, and keep the bad to yerself! What has gotten into folks now days? I'm a grown man so i take the flack, but remember about what you say reflects about yer true interself!
I think manners and being nice left the forums a long time ago, and sometimes I think things get taken wrong because it is sometimes hard to tell what someone is meaning by just reading typed text, and then again some are just rude.. but it goes with the territory take the good and try to ignoir the bad.. jmo

i guess we all knew what i said, would be taken wrong, thats my fault..

here in pa. you can use crossbow in gun season but not in archery season..unless you have disabled permit..

my point was, i am seeing hunters that could not hit barn with bow because they never could, getting a DISABLED PERMIT, now using crossbow..most are NOT disabled, i feel..the ones that are , thats great,i am on your side..

we wanted to keep archery season for DISABLED and regular bow hunters..this gives disabled a better chance to get a deer with crossbow..if the crossbow, which may happen anyhow,be legal in archery,we feel that disabled would have less of chance to get deer here in pa..this WAS good program until the NONE DISABLED are now ruining it..

that was my only point..MOST i see that have a DISABLED permit and are not disabled, in my opinion, could not shoot a bow or flintlock and were terrible hunters be fore they got a permit..

that was only my point..

as for me and others using recurve, i only stated that MOST are missing a lot of fun hunting..things are making hunting to EASY, yes, fun is making in hard..i just saw on tv that you can shoot your buck from your computer..you pay 2000 on your credit card, turn on the field or woods, it has camera on gun, you sit and wait for buck to come out,gun is in tree, you push shoot on your computer, it aims behind shoulder, bang, your done, they clean deer and mail in to you..

for person that cant be in woods hunting or cant practice, NO TIME, i feel the crossbow is great thing..sadly we dont have time and less deer in pa. is causing a lot of hunters to give up..

crossbow MUST be more accurate than my recurve or compound ..i hear many GOOD HUNTERS saying, they want it legal for all of us ,not DISABLED..i disagree with that for above reason on giving truly disabled a LITTLE BREAK on getting a buck ahead of others..

i guess i am in minority on that too, most hunters i talk to that shoot compound, hate the DISABLED HUNTERS for same reason i said..they want it legal for everyone, they want that ADVANTAGE over the DISABLED..

i seem to always want to give others a break ,like the DISABLED PERMIT,but i am like a fossil now..hunters today want to KILL,they want that deer, they dont want to see others get a nice buck and want every EASY way to get that deer..

this is world now and do to lack of deer here in pa. i see it getting much worst..

like said, i mostly likely will use CROSSBOW someday, not for it being easy, will use it because i TRULY cant pull my bow anymore..will i like it, YES, because it will let me hunt a few more years, i hope..

but, the recurve and memories as most of you have hunting, will still be in back of my mind
hunting..

I started using the cross bow be cause I can no longer hold a steady shot with the compound. I have neck back and arm and shoulder injurys from landscaping truck driving and accidents. I'm 52 years old and can't walk more than a half mile or so in the woods before my ankle gives me trouble to the point that I walk with great difficulty for the next two or three days. I have disabeled plates on my motorcycle to and am tired of having people tell me that I shouldn't be allowed to ride. Any more I just get agravated having to explaine. I mean no offence to any one. Just venting.

Don't worry about it, no one here even thinks about it. We have an equal opportunity barrel here.

i understand where you are coming from..most PEOPLE dont like the disabled, even if they really are..

i have friend who got agent orange in vietnam..i was lucky, i did not..

he bought a motorcycle, same as you..he is sick but like you, will not just lay there and die..so, he rides bike..

you should hear people that bad mouth him,vet too..they even go as far as taking picture of him and sending it into the military, trying to get his benefits cancelled..

if you are young like 52, most hate you, i know, i have many of my former workers tell me the same..some are totally disabled and cant pull a bow ,others are disabled ,but can pull a bow but tell doctor they cant..

it does not matter if you are disabled or making it bad so you can get disabled permit..most people HATE disabled..

sadly, its way world is now..when president bush started getting people off welfare, what did they do..they claimed they are DISABLED..all it did was shift welfare over to the disabled area..

like you, most likely you cant pull a bow but people will put you in that area with others that are faking it for disabled permit..

most i see can pull bow back but why should they when they can get disabled permit..others, like yourself, get a bad rap and are thrown in with the others that are faking it..

sorry i got off topic again, i am trying

I guess I don't understand what you somehow keep trying to say? If your saying people are faking being hurt to hunt then I can understand your frustration. If you are saying archeryseasonisfor the truly gifted and if a person is smart enough to care about the better choice for a clean kill then I think that is selfish of you to only think the truly gifted should be in the woods over other people. By your first remarks I took it that you think by there being more people in the woods with crossbows it hurts the population and there are less deer for the disabled to shoot then you must accept the fact that you are wrong. Ohio has had a CB season for over thirty years now and has seen nothing but the deer numbers get better and all are taking more deer now. Pennsylvania has not allowed the CB and you are saying the numbers are going down? Maybe they are goingdown cause people do not have time or the ability do shoot good and are sticking alot of deer and not finding them. Maybe if all those people would use a CB there would be less wasted deer and then the hunting would get better with the CB being aloud. I just makes me shake my head when people say that letting CB makes the numbers go down, when if they would accept the facts and not live in denial about what has happened here and in Ohio you would see the CB is not a bad deer management tool.
