Around, my hunting area it seems like they put the brakes on. Sun. evening thru this morning zip nada. 11-08-06 Rich

Went out tonight had two does get within 50 yards but they were not interested in getting any closer and milled there way off into the woods. Right at sunset had a bigger looking deer come out about 100 yards away but to dark to tell what it was and it was staying out in the field feeding on the freshly cut corn. Will try going out in morning again.

Went out this morning and had this button buck in front of me for about ten minuets tempting me with tender steaks! He was all I seen and he did not pass by until around 10:30. Will go back out tonight and hopefully see his daddy! This was also taken out of my dog house blind. When he first came out he was only about five yards in front of me and he never paid any attention to the blind. When he was moving away he played the stare game but always went back to eating, then stopped to rub his neck on this tree before he moved on.

So thats what deer look like![]I ain't seen one in so long i have to look at other folks pic's![&o]Just saw my cat squirrels again.

Smoke: Look at that pic!! Dang, looks like you could land an ultra-light airplane between those tree's. I been in Arkansas so long, I forgot there was places like that, lol. Here's my sad tale, same tale, just a different day. Whined enough to my guide/re-habber/monster buck shooter buddy, Tom, "I gotta kill something for the table anyhow, these guys are gonna quit believing I got 3 xbows pretty quick, and modern gun here opens up Saturday, the 11th. He sends me out w/ detailed map based on a big brush pile that I was familiar w/. Brush beyond belief!! Over your head type, need a dozer to get shootin lanes!! Naturally, I got what I had coming [for not preparing sooner] zilch!! In my own defense, lol, I had 38 pics in a week 24/7 from my doe honey hole in late Sept, so who needs a backup spot?? lol. I keep thinking here lately how many rib-eyes I got w/ Excalibur on them!! I'm kinda dissapointed in the new Stryker, I thought from the ads that sucker would just get up early in the a.m. and jump in the truck and go get ya one!!! lol.

Dan that is a good area and nice and clear too. It is in the nasty swamp/marsh that I have been talking about. Problem is that spot is only about fifty yards long and twenty five yards deep. It is a bit of high ground that I found in there that for some reason has never grown over. If you notice behind the deer the growth is over twice as tall as the deer and that is what I am surrounded by. There is only three ways in here, the way the deer take in and out and the path that I cut that is behind me from the RR bed! I would be pleased if the whole area was like this but then if it was, thedeer would no be as thick.

I went out to my other spot where the trail cam is and had a great time! I had the nice eight come out and dad is about two hundred yards away and I heard dad hit the can and the deer started to make his move toward dad and I was happy that it may happen for him. But just as the buck started to walk a doe came out and the buck assumed it was her that made the call so he turned and went after her. This started to happen at sunset and just as I was about out of light a doe came in walking real fast right at me got to with in ten yards but would not stop. Then when she was about five yards away she stopped broadside but right beside a tree with the tree covering up her lungs and then I thought of you Dan cause her head was open, LOL. but she then started to walk again so I decided to be like the guys on TV and give a Jason version of a grunt to stop her and she just bolted about thirty yards and turned broadside and looked back, which put her at about forty five yards which i was not comfortable with so I passed. Well she started off again and right as I get ready to sit down here comes the buck I forgot about hot on her trail, now I realized why she was walking so fast! He gave me a shot at about fifteen yards but he was the eight that I have seen alot so I passed on him for the second time! That was hard to do! So it was a exciting hunt but no luck. I see does where I don't want to kill one and no does where i want to kill one for the farmer! Starting to make me insane!

Well seeing the pic of a deer must have started a reaction around my neck of the woods. Sitting in my ladder stand this morning with winds out of the south and cat squirrels playing and like my trying to keep most of the skeeters from feasting on us! I caught a movement out of corner of my right eye. I eased CB in place and pushed the safety off, a trophy fer sure! I just didn't have enough money fer Taxidermists fee. Bobcat female about 18 lbs. i hated to pass on such an preditor![&o]

My hunt today is just getting under way. 37 degrees out which is warm enough for me and cold enough for the deer. Wind is flat calm but should swing to the south early on. I think it's gonna be a fine day out there whether I score or not.
The deer are going to be on the move and if I can stay with it I will be in the woods until dark. May switch stands at lunch time and have a sandwich and a smoke back at the truck but I am in it for the long haul. I remember reading that most of the big bucks shot are killed on Nov 12th. I hope the 11th fits their schedule.It's 3:00 AM.. Do you know where your deer are?GET UP!!!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>Wh ack!!
P.S. The old Ball and Chain is pissed cause the alarm went off. That means she won't talk to me for the rest of the day.

Wee doggies, what a ride! Winds gusting up to 50 mph, it was rock and roll from time i was trying to climb up into ladder stand. I saw 5 deers 2 Doe's and 3 fawns about 2/3rds the size of their nanny! They came within 35 yds. of me but too thick bad shots were all they offered. I passed, if'en i had been in my camo chair i could have had them within 20 yds. 5 at one time, thats all i had seen all together prior to this morning! Them tasty critters are starting to move here finally!
