Stealth Cam batteries
#1
I have read that some of you guys had a Stealth Cam that drained your batteries. I have had the batteries in my Stealth Cam for about 2 1/2 weeks and they are fine. I use the plain Duracell batteries. I was on the way to get some pictures developed and saw some Duracell rechargable batteries. They recharge in one hour and are about $22 for 4 AA batteries and the charger. Has anyone used these in their cameras? Do they work good?
I am sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I remember a mod saying that the gear review section was for reviews of items you had, not of items you want. If you want to move it, then go ahead.

It probably depends upon the type of camera you're using. The el cheapo model I picked up from Wal Mart eats batteries like my sister in law goes through corn chips. One week and 12 pictures and I need to put another 12 or so batteries in it again.
My personal digital camera uses lithium batteries. I've taken about 80 pictures with the current batteries and they're still going strong. They would probably go pretty well in a digital trail camera too.

That dosen't surprise me Zak. Most of the complaints I've heard were about the 3.0 mp digital stealth. I get about 3 weeks out of 6aa batteries in my 1.3mp stealth.
As for the rechargables, I'm not sure with the standars 35mm cam but the digitals require 1.5v and the rechargable batteries are 1.2v and from what I've heard from those who've tried them is the flash/cam dosen't function properly. Wether or not that is the case with the 35mm cam I don't know. If you try them please let me know how it goes.
You can always buy them from walmart and if they don't work then simply return them. I just love the 30 day, unconditional return policy

I;ve had my Stealth cam for 2 yrs now, and use energizers. They always last me a good 35-40days. Iactually never had them go completely dead, just always changed them in that time frame to be safe. But I'm thinking they'd go longer yet. Most the time my roll of 24 exp is taken by then w/ several recorded events beyond the 24. My cam is 85 miles away from my home at camp, so it only gets checked that often in spring & summer.

I have never really had a problem with the batteries going in the $60 Stealth cam. They last at least 3 weeks in my experience...assuming warmer weather ofcourse.
As someone else mentioned, I wouldn't go the rechargeable route. They usually don't last as long as standard alkalkine batteries.
