Default Little Summit Climber question...

Is the foot rest of definite plus or not on the stands? I was going to buy a Viper x5, but I noticed that the x4's come standard with a foot rest. I've emailed them and the only difference between the x4's and the new x5's are a different camo pattern and no foot rest on the x5's. They said that alum has gone up a lot and they took off the foot rest to keep cost down for the consumer. I can't fault them one bit. But I'm just wondering if the foot rest is a really good option? You can buy the foot rest for the x5's, but they are like $30.

Thanks

I have one on my Goliath and yes i like my foot rest, they make you more comfortable and you are able to sit for longer periods of time because they take away pressure from your knees and legs and if you get tired of it just kick it away, comes with silent rubber pads if you need to tilt it back out of the way.

I have a Summit as well, I did not want that much accesories on it I take what I need in the woods and leave the rest. I track pretty far back in the woods to hunt. I sit pretty low in my treestand so when I stand to shoot all is out of the way. For three weeks out of the year I hunt all day long in the Summit I have not found a need for the foot rest, you can adjust yous seat for comfort. Try lowering the strap under your legs to take pressure of of you thighs. good luck

How tall are you?? When I first bought my API bowhunter I did not have a foot rest. I'm 6'3" and like to stretch out every now and then. So I made a foot rest and I think they make a big difference in my comfort level.

I bought the X4 last year and I like it a lot. The foot rest is nice but it is a little to short me (I'm 6-1). I can't stetch out my legs completely, but it is nice to get them up a little though.

On short hunt's it's no big deal. On the longer hunts a foot rest is a HUGE advantage when it comes to comfort.

Thanks for the info fellas. I think I'll find an x4 model and run with that. I'm only 5'8", so I may not run into the same problems as you "tall" guys .

I'm only 5'9" and last season I bought the Viper X4 and I love this stand ,I was going to hold out or the X5 to decide ,but now that I've heard this I'm certainly glad I got the X4 ,the footrest is very important for a guy of my size ,I usually can't sit much longer than 3 -4 hrs on stand ,but now that I can stretch out I can sit much longer . Glad I got the X4.
