This thread is great!

Not only will one person respond to my nonsense, but TWO people do it.

Its so cool.....even amidst my ridiculous attempt at humor, they still took quotes and responded to them. You guys are too much! Shucks, you made me blush.... Silentassassin, I hate to tell you this, but by answering my thread after Datamax does, it kinda makes you look like your his little puppet. Now Im honestly not trying to offend you, well maybe just a little, but Im being honest. Maybe Im the only one to see it, and I know Ive done it for people in the past, but by ripping apart the same thread that someone else just ripped apart it makes you look silly. Im only telling you for your own good. Sorry.

Back to the topic though...I actually see what your saying, have all along. But I just cant bring myself to say you're rig....you're ri....right.

Not with the way you guys act about compounds. But you are...there I said it. Your right. Crossbows will have little if any effect on the archery season.

However, you still cant convince me that its the same as drawing in the presence of an animal...you can sell that idea to the funny farm. Thats just plain non-sense. I hope you can admit that one too... I mean come on.....the thing is cocked. But the rest of the argument seems air-tight, and if its mainly women and children that will take up crossbows, then thats great.

But Im serious, you converted me. Not that Im gonna go out and buy a crossbow, and I still dont really like the idea, but if they try and introduce them, I wont fight it....

I do have a question though, cause they still leave me feeling icky inside.

Do you really ever see people carrying crossbows in the states where its legal?

Im afraid I wouldnt know how to react, and I might say something to offend them, or give them a look.

God knows if I p-ss them off and they are insane, they could easily shoot me before I could get the bow drawn in defense. All they have to do is raise it and pull the trigger. I need to know if Im going to actually encounter any or many if its ever introduced.

And like I said, its just a weapon...I think we all need to go hunt something. The stress is getting to us..... Turkey season is only 12 days away....WOOOO HOOOOO.....too bad Im gonna get fired just to go. HAHAHAHAA

Later---Matt

burniegoeasily - you shoot a Mamba ? GADS !! You don't count then
Not often. I took a hog this year with it, but that was it. I use it more for fishing. I guess im dating myself with that bow. I just like my old bows. Heck, I shot a doe a year ago with a pearson bushmaster (long limbs, little round wheels). The original one from the early 80s. [&:]

Byron Ferguson is a fancy, show of, close range trick shooter. I'll shoot at $20 bills all day with the man
We need an emoticon with the little dude rolling on the floor in laughter and pi$$ing his pants.

Your arrogance has crossed that line seperating it from sickening to downright hilarious lies!!!!

Look it up - compounds dominate archery season and have increased since they were allowed in. They "took over" archery season like nobody thought possible ! Do you deny that ? P&Y and G&F have to constantly tweak and ajust their "rules" to allow the latest and greatest want of compounders. Its true - like it or not.
That wasn't responding to my question at all.[&:]
Try again.

I never used "different user" as a username ! And if you HAD read enough of my stuff you'd know I'm all for all bows in archery season - I've said that for a very long time.
My bad!! Should have spelled it out. S T E A L T H Y C A T It's really too bad our search function doesn't go back past one year. You know , back when the integrity of archery season was your concern.

Minimal. The limbs don't do much of anything anymore - they can't, they're horizontal to each other and aren't very "bendy"
Then by golly, I shouldn't have to special order a set of 50-60lb limbs this year to accomodate my shoulder problems. They dont do anything anyway.

Burnie wrote....
With that said, I have seen this grip with anyone who is holier than thou, due to there rugged, manly persona. "I hunt X way, and you don't, you are not a real hunter". Now to say a traditionalist is much better than a compound shooter is crazy. I use both and both have there inherent problems. A compound is easier to hold and aim, but then again, if you practice right, a recurve and long bow are just as easy.
Not when you ask data. Put a compound in his hands and every critter within 40yds is dead meat. Hell , he's better than all of the hunting "pro's" who I've watched screw up a chance at a nice buck on video (with compounds) , even Randy Ulmer.[]

Sarcasm aside , I agree with what you said there Burnie.

So everything is the EXACT SAME THING except a crossbow has a stock and keeps the string cocked, but it's like some kind of "leap of faith" for some of you to see that. Sorry but my six year old can see that they are the same.

Ummm - so its not the exact same thing. Having the string cocked is the big deal. That's why your six year old could shoot a crossbow and not your compound.
I never said it was, READ THE POST PLEASE! I said it was the exact same thing EXCEPT a crossbow has a stock and keeps the string cocked. In other words a crossbow and compound bow share the same type of components with the exception of a stock and cocked string.

Feel free to stop me when I'm wrong here ok?

A crossbow and a compound bow....
both have limbs
both have cams
both have cables
both have strings
both store their energy in the limbs
both use the string to propel the projectile
both have sights (including scopes)
both use a trigger to release the string
both use an arrow/bolt
both have basically the same effective range
both have a measureable A to A
both have a measureable power stroke
both have a brace height
both use something to rest the arrow on
both use string wax
both have a served string
both can have a quiver attached
both you need to watch the wind while hunting
both you need to cover your sent
both you need to scout to find where the deer are moving so a close shot can be had
both you need to quietly get into your stand or ground blind
both you need to watch your movement
one has a stock and the other dosen't
one stays cocked and the other dosen't
one you can use a rest and the other you can't

You mean to tell me that with all of the similarities you are gonna hang your hat on three differences?

And before anyone starts with the "the three differences are big differences" Let me tell you that none of the three have anything to do with the BASIC function and premise of how the weapon operates...only on how it is used. To me that is just not enough to dismiss them as bows.
