I have many saws and refused to buy another. I use a compound miter saw with a 80 T carbide blade. I place the arrow in a mortised piece of maple and cut both at the same time. After seeing what is sold for arrow cutting I felt pretty confident that my $700 saw with a $100 blade would do the job. It does. Don't use the metal cutting blade.

Idahoelkinstructor,

I wear the mask to be on the safe side. I do not think it would be good to get carbon fibers in the lungs no matter how few.I have had my arrows cut in the shop then tried it at home with the dremell when I wanted them a little shorter. Same amount of dust same nice cut. It works great for me. Not saying anybody else should do it this way just that it works okay for me. I have only cut about a dozen arrows this way and shoot the same still (except for the ones I have lost at 3d shoots). I have had them for about 2 years and they are still fine. Also my rotary or dremell tool operates up to 35,000 r.p.m.`s and seems fast enough.

Ausie what do you mean. Cut off some of the back and then the front? Or all from the nock side?
TN15.

What I do is take out the nock and cut 2" from that end then replace the nock and cut the other end to lenght.

It works out for my finished arrow lenght I am taking 2" off both ends of the shaft thus getting the straightest part of the shaft.

You can pick up a mini cut off saw from Habor Freight for $20 plus shipping.
I think I'm going to pick up the saw, but it says that it comes with a metal blade. Do you know where I can find a abrasive blade to fit that saw?

I ended up going to Wal-Mart and purchased (100gr eastman outfitters silvertips) for about $12 for three of them and they work as good or better than the more expensive brands. I arrowed 6 deer with them this year including a 230# Illinois buck and all fell within sight distance of my stand. In the last two years I've been using them they've even taken down 4 russian hogs for me.
That's impressive, I bought these broadheads for turkey hunting and had HORRIBLE experiences with them. I did kill one turkey with them, but as far as anything else, I would never shoot them again. I shot a total of 4 animals with these heads and not one head survived the shot. I shot a squirrel, coyote, armadillo, and a coon. I found the blades to be brittle and dull out of the package. but if they work for you, keep it up.

Your right you might not get as many shots out of one head but they fly straight and punch a devastating hole. I don't know how many shots you get out of a more expensive brand but for the money I can afford to buy a few extra thru the year. I was just simply saying more expensive doesn't necessarily mean everything.
