Ausie what do you mean. Cut off some of the back and then the front? Or all from the nock side?

What I do is take out the nock and cut 2" from that end then replace the nock and cut the other end to lenght.

It works out for my finished arrow lenght I am taking 2" off both ends of the shaft thus getting the straightest part of the shaft.
