Default Drag scent on a line or put it in a tree?

dragging might cause me to spook or jump a deer, no? but hanging it from a nearby tree doesn't cover as much area. don't know which to do

i'm going hunting all day saturday or sunday this week. i plan to hang some scent in a tree and bring a grunt tube and some rattling antlers. would it be alright to use these in conjunction throughout the day?

btw, sorry for all the recent threads. i guess that's what this board is for though as a lot of the questions i've had for a while are getting answered and i'm learning a lot. thanks

Do all of the above, JRS. Dragging the scent to your stand could lead a buck to your stand using the same path that you took. The scent that you hang around your stand could draw them from anywhere, depending on which way the wind is blowing.

Use the grunt tube and the rattling antlers in conjunction with one another. Most people say that a combination of the two is better anyway.

Good luck.

Do both drag it while walking to your stand

and tie it up in a tree where you want the deer to stop.

That way you get it both ways.

Good Luck

thanks for the suggestions

only problem is i walk through a cow pasture (thats fenced in) from my house to get to my stand. so dragging it would be pointless.

i have seen very large bucks where my stand is, and also right in my backyard. im not sure if i should use doe estrous/doe bleat/ rattling or dominant buck urine/buck grunt/rattling

Deer can jump Fence's

I'd suggest dragging a scent thing right from your backyard to your stand, sounds like if a buck comes out, he's gonna follow! Good Luck.

and maybe drag it around the edge of the pasture near the treeline, many times they will come to the edge of the woods and not come out ,the scent could pull him on to where you want him
