Not sure what the winds were while I was in the tree, but the weather station in State College, PA near where I live registered a 68 MPH gust one evening a few years back while I was hunting. I knew the winds were howling and it was snapping limbs off tree's around me. I decided to leave and get out of there shortly after a big pine snapped off a couple hundred yards behind me.
I've also rifle hunted in some windy, nasty snowy days where it put down a couple inches an hour. Thats was pretty cool. The snow laid all over me and gave me good camo.

Unless I'm in a rock solid tree I don't like to be in the air when winds get up to 20mph. My biggest complaint is the tree's movement makes it almost impossible to get a clean shot off. Safty is also another issue. I don't like being in my climber when it's windy. I worry too much about my stand slipping.[:'(]
Give me a solid tree on a windy day and I as happy as a pinney rooter in $#!t

Once while bowhunting I kept hearing a rumbling in the distance. It sounded like a train. By the time I realized it was a storm it was on top of me. I was in a climber and I started down the tree. I was taking the knobs off when lightning hit a 150 yards or so from me. Scared the mud out of me. I grabbed all my stuff and started running downhill. I ran all the way out with lightning hitting very close and trees blowing over. Very nasty! Almost got clipped by a few limbs and such coming down.

I was out last season on the day we were supposed to get hit with a good storm. I remember being on stand while all was calm and within minutes the wind whipped up and I was swaying all over the place in the tree stand. I was about 25ft up. Thankfully my API stand never moved an inch. The teeth on that sucker bite in good!

Call me a wimp if you want but I won't go out if I know a storm is brewing . Me and Ol' Man Lightning will never get along , and the thought of being up a lightning rod when he comes just ain't appealing ! [

I hunted one fall afternoon just as a cold front came thru. Not sure of the wind speeds, but I had one hand on my hat and one on my bow. Got down after 2 hours of nothing but rockin' and rollin'.

i have a stand in one of my frequent haunts that sits in a cut-over that was cut around 10 years ago. it is really thick, but has grown up enough that a guy can put a stand in it. my stand is 13 ft. up a small oak sapling that is about 5 to 6" dia at the base of the tree...needless, to say, it doesn't take much of a wind to get me swaying in that tree.
after a while, a guy gets used to it i suppose.
