Mathews Bows
#22
The outback is a hell of a bow. For my graduation present my parents were going to get me one for this hunting season. However I decided to hold off and wait to see next years models. I have a feathermax now and love it so i want to finish this last hunting season with it. See if it cant kill my third buck in four years.

I have a mathews my self and love it. I wouldnt shoot any other bow. I just wanna know if everyone who has or had a mathews feels the same. To me a mathews is well worth the money. IF you do have one tell me what you have and how you have it set up.

To answer the original question, I've owned about 2 dozen if not more Mathews bows since 1992. I've not always agreed with the advertising, but I've always liked the bows (Not that the amount of advertising bothers me, but they used to have a real bad habit of printing "half-truths"..they have toned that down in recent years).
I've had some that were very poor, and I've had a some that were some of the best bows I've ever had...the rest were good bows that were just not for me  They take alot of flak, but it's hard to argue with the success they have had.
Will be hunting this season with an Outback. 28.5" draw. 60 pounds. Cobra Sidewinder LX sight, GKF TKO, SorboTek stabilizer. Easton ST AXIS 400s w/ 4" vanes and still undecided on broadheads..likely Magnus Stingers, or NAP Scorpion XPs..or maybe both.
P.S. I like BowTech too..and Hoyt...and PSE...and Martin...and...

This topic seems to pop up every month or so. Another MMMMmmmm... MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (well, you know) owner needs a little reassurance and validation. The rest of us bow owners get by without all that just fine.

I talked to a Mathews rep and he said they are making 1200 Outbacks a month and selling them as fast as they make them. He talked like the prices will be going up quite abit next year. Better get one while you can.

Ah, a nice high tention thread, which is what usually happens when one bow company is touted as better than the others.

I've never owned a Mathews, but I shot many of them and for the most part have liked them. I'm certain they will keep their owners very happy, but not more so than the bows, from Martin, PSE, Diamond, Hoyt , etc.
One thing for sure, there is no "best bow" for everyone. There are simply bows that are best for a particular person's preferences. It takes a lot of bow testing to figure this out. However, unless you've shot every model from every manufacturer before you purchase, you won't know the answer to that dilemma either. It's not that you won't like your choice (everyone does, at least for a little while), it's just that you won't have enough information to even know what's best for you.

Just for clarification, I normally avoid these type of posts. I figure everyone is welcome to their opinion and we all naturally think the equipment we are shooting is best or we wouldn't be shooting it. In most cases the equipment that each of us is shooting is the best..........for us. I don't care who likes who likes what bow the best. I happen to shoot a Bowtech now but my two favorite bows from the past were Hoyt's and I still think highly of their equipment. By the same token I think Mathews makes top quality equipment. It is the "Mathews Sheeple" that I always hated. I am not in anyway insinuating that all Mathews shooters fall into this category but it's obvious when someone does. My cherrios pee session started due to a culmination of frustrating remarks from Deerslayer_37 that I found myself no longer able to refrain from responding to, not from a "my bow is better than yours" view point.
Deerslayer_37,
I will agree with you on that point. There are people in here that shove various different things down our throats. The subjects matter varies greatly in this regard. However, in your case it isn't the subject matter but the manner in which it has been done that has rubbed me the wrong way.
