Frankly, I'm suprized they had 17 trads. You can't hardly pay a traditional shooter around these parts to go to any shoot that allows compounds

O.K – just a little
I have the same problem with fly-roders. I used to fish with a guy who is now a converted fly-roder. He now snubs his nose to like me who fish stripers conventional – because its sooooooo much harder to do it with a fly-rod. So a guy who used to bust his arse to catch 25 –30 nice bass a night, now uses the fly – busts his arse and catches 4 or 5 bass.
That’s not harder[
] – it’s the same damn thing. Catch 30 with “easy equip” or catch 5 with harder equip. Now if he was taking 30 bass with the fly – that’s harder and he has accomplished more.
Maybe I am just retarded (cannot use that statement in a quote)

Sounds like the trad guys need to learn how to get along with others
Guys that shoot traditional like being active. Guys who shoot open are about as active as giant tree sloths. For an open class guy, he says it's impossible to shoot 30 targets in less than 5 hours. A traditional guy says he could shoot 30 targets in recurve class, eat lunch, take a little nap and then shoot 'em again to post a score in longbow class within 5 hours. If the flippin' compounders would get out of the way.
In other words, a traditional shooter at a compound shoot has nothing to look forward to other than a day of abject BOREDOM.
Oh... Then you factor in the fact that it's like shooting in a morgue around those open class guys. Sheesh! You ever been to an all-traditional shoot? People are joking and laughing, having a good time.
Really, there simply isn't any reason for a traditional shooter to go to an open shoot, if he can avoid it.

Arthurp,
for a group that's seeking the less complicated more relaxed way to shoot, the trads sure seem to be an uptight group. Why not just relax and take it easy and enjoy the day? You make it sound like it's the trad guys going home and kicking the dog after the shoot rather the compound guys.

Like I said, you'd have to shoot traditional to understand.
But, yes, I've seen a lot of trads so mad at the end of a shoot that they might have gone home and kicked the dog. Mad enough to say they'd never, ever attend another open shoot.

I forgot to mention, I've run across a great many in the pins classes that have gotten mad and quit shooting 3D entirely over the antics of the open classes. So it's not just the trads that have a problem with the dial twirling masters of the multiple letdown.

Arthurp,
You have run into more people that have quit archery than anyone I have ever heard of. Ironically most seem to have quit over the open class. It must be in the water down there or something. Do the people down there just quit archery the first time something doesn't go there way? How many people have you known to quit anyway?

Hey Arthur, the trad guys don't shoot the same course as the open guys at an ASA pro-am.They will have to share a course but it won't be open shooters. Most likely a hunter class but I am not sure. There are too many open shooters and they will have their own range.Actually there are many courses set up for many different classes and I don't ever see the problems between classes at the big events or even locally that you seem to see.
I was shooting this weekend and some people were talking about a person that was shooting with a scope but was using fingers and was shooting in the open class.I said to one person is all I can say is why but then followed the statement by to each his own and each person must shoot what he or she enjoys and that must determine their choice.
