I have shot selfbows, longbows, recurves and compounds. I've shot compounds every way they can be shot. Fingers barebow, release barebow, fingers/pins, release/pins, fingers/scope, release/scope, string walking, face walking, point of aim... You name it, I've done it. Even though they're heavy and clunky, I like shooting compounds. I liked the old ones better than the stuff they're putting on the market today, but I like them.
If they made a mild cam compound that weighed 2 1/2 pounds or less, had a decent grip and didn't need a bowpress just to do regular, routine maintenance, I'd definitely be shooting it instead of a stickbow. It'd be just that much better on my worn out shoulders.
I am pro-traditional, certainly, but that does NOT mean I'm anti-compound. Anti-technology? Not really... Definitely anti to the direction technology is heading, though.
I do not like the fact that techology has progressed to the point where we've got guys saying they're meat hunters or trophy hunters, and make fun of anyone that takes 'dinks, spikes or does.' Even further, using that as a gouge against traditional shooters in particular. There are plenty of compound shooters that are dreaming of and praying for their first opportunity to take a dink, spike or doe. What do you guys say to them? That their dink, spike or doe is inferior? That THEY are inferior to your glorious selves??
Actually, you have to wonder... Anyone that pats themselves on the back that hard has to be compensating for something.

That statement is complete hypocracy - from the center of hypocracy - that started this whole thread......LOL
When I am told for the umptenth time that my style of hunting is far less challenging than a "trads" style of hunting - DON'T get your panties in an uproar if I use the word Dink

Diddo exactly what Rack said.
The dinks comment was directly related to stealthy slamming me for using a compound. He says its easy to shoot a compound, I say it is easy to shoot a dink. It's really tit for tat.
And like Rack, I will be the guy on my hands and knees helping you search for that deer, no matter the size or sex, and I will be proud and happy for anyone that kills anything with bow, regardless of type. I've killed lots of dinks and does and I am dang proud of them.
But for me, my view of my hunting, I prefer to hold out for "trophy" bucks. I emphasize trophy b/c it's different strokes for different folks. For me, on my land, in my state, anything over say 115" is a hell of deer with a bow, other parts of the country would consider that a dink.

The ONLY time I have or I have seen others use "dinks" as a guage against the trad clan - was in DIRECT rebutal to the constant bashing a few seem to have against the "easy" compounders.

Oh, for sure... That 'elitist' tag runs both ways. Like our ol' buddy Smilin' Chuck, saying that traditional bows are "wounding machines." WOUNDING MACHINES!!
It's fine and dandy for some bozo to write that kind of outright SLANDER in a national magazine, it's perfectly acceptable for an idiot publisher to print it, but it's a flagrant foul for someone to even suggest that shooting compounds is EASY?
Who is the hypocrite?

Arthur, my 2 year old sings a song that I think we could all use:
"I love you....., you love me,.... we're a happy family,... with a great big hug,.... and a kiss from me to you..... want you say you love me too."
