Has anyone ever been to a 3D range that was all treestand shots? Anything close? If there was such a range would you be more likely or less likely to go to it versus a ground 3D range in the same area?
The logistics of building such a range could be cost prohibitive.
The legal ramifications of someone being injured from a fall would be the worst.
In stead of full up treestands with climbers in the trees, I was thinking about 10-15ft ladder stands in an area with some good terrain features.
Another problem would be the marked kill zones on the 3D targets. They are marked for ground shooting and the impact placement would change considerably based on the amount of vertical in the shot?

All range liability policies I know of specifically prohibit elevated shooting platforms of any type.
The best way to simulate a treestand shot on an archery range is to set up the stakes at the top of a steep dropoff and put the target at the bottom. Build steps to get up and down. If your range is flat as a pancake, then you're screwed.

the 3d range i go to has a few elevated platforms to shoot from ,on a thirty target course i'd say they have about 5 or 6 platforms ,it makes it more of a challenge also. , i think they also use the platforms for skeet or trap whatever one i'm not sure, but there are stairs and rails around the whole platform.some of the shot are down a steep drop , the range also has two ibo qualifiers every year, at least they did last year.

I've been to a couple that had some nice elevated platforms... and a couple of them up pretty high. Both places had some multiple targets from the things which gave you about 5 or 6 total elevated shots. One was kind of kool. You shot a couple shots into the woods and then had a couple out in open fields. They were tough. One platform was a good 20 feet.
